Fall in the Sunroom
It’s fall in the sunroom! If you asked me I’d have to tell you, this room is one of my favorites in our home.
Today, I’m taking part in a #fallporchhop organized by my dear friend, Taryn, over at Design, Dining and Diapers. A bunch of us bloggers are giving you a little tour of our porches, or in my case the sunroom. If you’re visiting from Kelli & Kristies’ blog, Lolly Jane, welcome to our home by the sea!
Grab your coffee or tea because you’re in for a little morning relaxing at the beach. I’m sipping some pumpkin spice coffee!
On Monday I shared how the dining room and living room are looking right now, click here to see that. Those rooms have dark woodwork so the decorating style is a little heavier and I focused on richer textures and more antiques, but this room is like a breath of fresh coastal air!
I think I love this room so much because almost everything has been ucpcyled in some way. We redid the room a few years back, sanding the floors and staining them with a driftwood stain. The walls are painted in Simply White, the color of the year, and the ceiling is blue. They say blue ceilings ward of evil spirits. No evil spirits in here!
The other reason I love this room is the abundance of natural light! This room has three walls of windows so gets incredible light. We do everything in here. I blog sitting at the table. I paint watercolors. We enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner out here when we don’t want to eat out the deck. The boys like to do their homework out here.
For autumn the table is simply decorated with wildflowers.
Aren’t they beautiful?
The giant sea shell was a gift from a reader, such a beautiful gift that means so much to me.
I found the table Bent Nail Farm Antiques and it was broken when we first saw it. Luke fixed it and I painted it with a custom blue Chalk Paint®, a combination of Pure White with a hint of Provence. I always get asked about the color. The chairs were $5 a piece. They used to be very dark wood and I painted with Paris Grey Chalk Paint®. The seats are drop cloth, I thought the perfect covering with messy boys! I actually need to recover them again so don’t look too closely. You can see the furniture makeover here.
One of my favorite places to sit, are these wicker chairs.
They are from Ikea and are perfect and have stood up so well. Such a great purchase.
The beautiful watercolor pillows are my friend Lucy over at Craftberry Bush. I’m including the affiliate link for the pillows because I was getting so many questions about them. Click here for the pumpkin pillow and here for the acorn pillow. Her shop has such amazing pillows and artwork! They add such a whimsical, happy vibe to any space.
The oars were a freecycle find from our old house and I upcycled them with Chalk Paint®. It is such an old makeover but it still really makes me happy. If you’re wondering how to hang oars you may want to see what we did.
The lamp is made with beach rocks and is by a local artist in Scituate.
Here’s the other chair:
Certainly the perfect spot for a cup of coffee and cookies!
The cabinet is a yard sale find and painted in Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Grainsack, a perfect gray. All the boys games and outdoor stuff is inside of here.
Below you can see just how long the oars and room are 😉
By the door is a little chest which I painted with Fusion Mineral Paint and Saltwash. Saltwash adds a textured coastal finish for the truly salt kissed look! This was my childhood toy chest, if you believe it or not. You can read the makeover here. Rain boots, snow boots and other shoes are stored in the trunk.
A few little sugar pumpkins found their way inside. No white pumpkins to be found yet. Hopefully soon.
I’m actually trying to bring in some more orange this year….
Well, that’s it. Our sunroom decorated simply for autumn by the sea. Just by adding a few pillows, a cozy blanket, some pumpkin spice coffee and beautiful flowers this space feels ready to embrace colder mornings and falling leaves.
What did you like best about this room?

Beautiful!! So inviting. My favorite part would be the table and chairs 🙂
A beautiful porch. The table and chairs are one of my favorite, but the wild flowers just make it. Job well done.
I would be spending so much time in this sunroom if it were in my house! You’ve decorated it beautifully. The wicker chairs are where I’d be sitting and enjoying that pumpkin spice coffee!
Everything about this is gorgeous! Love it all.
Beautiful, as always, Danielle! I’m missing Fall in New England so much! xx
Beautiful, Danielle! I love your pops of color in the sunflowers and pillows. Happy Fall, friend! xo
I am so jealous of your large beautiful porch! It is stunning 🙂
Danielle! It is so gorgeous!! I always love your porch/sunroom tours- such a pretty space. And all your fall accents are perfect. Light, bright, yet warm and cozy at the same time.
