Family Pizza Night
Friday night is family pizza night and I thought I’d share our homemade pizza.
Our youngest, Conor, LOVES to cook. He says he wants to be a chef, but he’s only 10 and he knows things could change.
He loves making Caesar salad, pasta, and pizza. Since it’s time for our Cozy Living series, hosted by my friend Jennifer over at Town & Country Living, I thought our family pizza night would be perfect to share.
This is Conor, just in case you’re new around here.
I’ve actually shared his cooking on Insta Stories.
I couldn’t think of anything more cozy and snuggly than our family pizza nights. Some nights we get take away pizza. My favorite take out pizza is Peel. However, I actually LOVE when Conor makes pizza. After we have wine (sparkling cider for the kids) and pizza, we snuggle on the couch and watch movies. It’s my favorite way to spend Friday night!
For Christmas we gave him a Baking Steel which is made by a local company in Cohasset.
We ordered him the original baking steel, which is sold through Amazon, as well. This baking stone is made out of ultra-conductive steel so can cook pizza 20 times quicker than a pizza stone or baking stone. It can also be used as a griddle and a cold plate after it’s been frozen. Conor was so excited by this gift! The crust comes out so amazing cooked on the baking steel.
Since we bought the steel we ended up needing a pizza peel, which we ordered from Amazon. Conor wanted one with a long handle. We also got a peel rack to hang it on the wall.
As this is a quick and easy Friday night. We usually buy dough from WholeFoods BUT would love your recipes for the perfect pizza dough. We love the WholeFoods dough but think might be fun to make the dough from scratch.
Let’s Make Some Pizza!
Preheat your oven to 500 and allow the oven to be on with the steel inside for 45 to an hour.
Shape your dough.
Stretch your dough by flipping it in the air.
Conor’s still working on his technique 😉
Next flour your peel with semolina flour.
Add sauce.
Our boys LOVE cheese and pepperoni. So that’s what usually goes on top. We LOVE the pepperoni from WholeFoods.
Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella.
Conor’s secret ingredient is Herbs de Provence (which we get from Trader Joe’s).
When your pizza is ready to go in the oven do a little dance!
Place your pie in the oven.
Please don’t mind my old oven. It’s dirty and the door doesn’t close all the way. I dream of a new kitchen – one day….
Bake for approximately 7 minutes or until golden on top.
Your pizza is ready to be enjoyed.
Are the photos making you hungry? I’m craving pizza as I write this.
Enjoy pizza with your family.
Hope you enjoy our tips!

My girls are now grown but Friday night was always pizza night and they loved inviting friends over for homemade pizza. I got away from it now that’s it’s just the hubs and I. But with super bowl tomorrow this recipe for pizza sauce just popped up in my email this morning it sounds very similar to the one I always made and I’d like to give it a try. The recipe also has links for homemade dough I always made the one on the back of the King Arthur bag but I’m up for trying this one. I read… Read more »
Kim, loved reading about your memories of family pizza nights with your girls. I know we’ll look back on these days and wish for them back. Thank you for sharing the sauce and the pizza dough recipe.
My grandson Felix, who is 12, also loves to cook. His specialty is homemade pasta, and he loves to show it off as it is draped all over a rack in the kitchen. It tastes just wonderful!
How wonderful, Lisa, Felix sounds like quite the chef. Conor enjoys making pasta, too. So far we’ve done fettuccini and spaghetti. Think it would be fun to make ravioli one day. Does he love to watch Master Chef Jr?
So now you have me hungry. As a kid my family joined every Saturday afternoon for homemade pizza. Such great memories! I’m going to have to whip up a pizza now that I see yours. Such great family time!
Conor’s pizza looks so good – better than I could make for sure!!! Can’t wait to try the recipe!
Hi, He should make his own pizza sauce..its so easy and great to learn a simple sauce before he tackles anything else. As for the dough, of course making his own would be great but whole foods does indeed sell a great one. Shredded mozz is the best and of course the pepperoni!!!! Add in’s are endless as we all know. I will share a quick simple sauce for Conor. I can of tomato puree olive oil fresh garlic – chopped oregano or Conor’s fav. herb blend In a sauce pot with cover add the oil, cover the bottom and… Read more »
