Friday Favorites
A new blog series featuring all my favorite things!
This week, I had so much planned for content BUT am feeling a bit under the weather (I think from the flu shot & allergies) and my computer was also under the weather and is being repaired at Apple.
So I thought it would be a perfect time to share some of my favorites from this month from jeans to yoga mats to museum openings, TV, and flowers. I often share things on Insta Stories but realize some of you might not be on Instagram. If you are, I’d love you to follow me there as well.
I think I’ll start doing one of these recaps about once a month.
My new favorite jeans
I’m LOVING these new jeans. They actually feel like sweatpants.
Luke snapped this photo of me and the boys at the Dahlia Festival at Cross Street Flower Farm. These jeans are so comfortable that I want to wear them all the time for hanging out around the house AND going out. I loved them so much I bought two pairs. I think the store is offering a special deal now. When I bought them they were doing 40% off all full priced items.
Favorite Flower
Speaking of flowers, my favorite flowers this month are dahlias. I signed up for a dahlia share with my friends at Cross Street Flower Farm and I’m loving a new bouquet each week. Their Dahlia festival was amazing. Rows and rows of all different hues and varieties of dahlias.
I think you all know I’ve been pretty obsessed with dahlias. You can read more about them in our home HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Favorite Yoga Mats
My friends Ji launched a new company called Take Care Space and I’m loving the awesome yoga mats. The mats are eco-friendly PVC and are free of toxins. Each mat is printed with vibrant designs in sustainable UV-cured inks. I love how Ji’s mats showcasing artists’ designs.
The mat I have is Sand and Palms painted by Fernanda Martinez, a Mexican artist from Oakland, California. Her tropical scenes are inspired by nature.
Max also LOVES the new yoga mats. Take Care Space also has a Magic Carpet series yoga mats, kids’ mats, accessories, and apparel. Take Care Space is offering my readers 10% off when they enter the discount code FINDINGSILVERPENNIES So excited to pass on this savings to all of you!
Favorite TV Show
We absolutely adore the Durrell’s in Corfu on PBS. The story of a widow fleeing dreary England to a sun-dappled Greek island with her four kids in tow in search of a new life and adventure. The show is based on the true life story and books by Gerald Durrell. We’re rewatching the series with our boys to get caught up before the final series starts. We each have our favorite characters and I, in fact, can see a bit of some of the three boys in both of my sons. I think you’ll love this witty and heart-warming show with stunning scenery of Corfu. The last season airs this Sunday, September 29th at 8pm on Masterpiece.
Favorite Exhibit
This one is more for my local friends or people planning a visit to Boston. You need to go to Love is Calling at the ICA. I was so inspired and mesmerized by this installation. Love is Calling by iconic Yayoi Kusama is her largest of her existing infinity rooms. The room is mirrored which makes it seem to go on forever. We were mesmerized by the color and polka dot pattern but Kusama’s reciting a love poem in Japanese. I would love to see her Firefly Infinity Room, which is currently on exhibit in Phoenix.
What are your current favorite things? Excited to hear what TV, movies, fashion, and home finds you’re loving right now.
Loved your favorite things. My daughter wore a dahlia in her updo hair style on her wedding day. Hope you feel better soon. I want to watch the Durrells .I tried to watch it when I was living in the UK but my husband didn’t like it. Sounds like a good show for me to watch. We hope to visit Greece next year.
I bet your daughter looked so beautiful on her wedding day with a dahlia in her hair. How special! I think you’ll love the Durrells. It will get you in the mood for your trip to Greece. I’m so jealous – would love to visit Greece one day!
