Finding Silver Pennies on WCVB’s Made in Mass
It isn’t every day you’re on TV. Well, in fact, this is my first time! I’m really excited to give you a behind the scenes look at the TV shoot that took place at our home last Monday. We were so excited to be featured on WCVB’s Made in Mass this week.
More About Made in Mass
Made in Mass is a news story hosted by Doug Meehan and he travels across the state to share products that are “Made in Mass”. I love the show, in fact, Channel 5 is the news we watch and we are die hard fans of Chronicle, too.
Behind the Scenes of our TV Shoot
Doug and his cameraman, Mark, film segments for Made in Mass on Monday mornings after they’ve done the news. So I welcomed them into our home here in Scituate Harbor. I wish I could tell you it was a brilliant, sunshine-y day, but it was raining… Not to fear, Mark brought plenty of lights to brighten the space up.

Well, before I go into everything, I have to tell you Doug is the nicest guy and he’s just like you see him on TV. I instantly felt calm chatting with him.
First we got mic’ed up and Doug interviewed me in my studio which you all know is in the sunroom. Max walked around underfoot while we chatted.
Then I showed him some of our products in the kitchen and Mark took some footage of more products in the dining room.

If you look closely above you can see Max and Poppy in the background. Then I painted a little bit and we did more filming in the sunroom.
Before they left I had Luke come down and meet both of them. He was working upstairs. It was so much fun to have them in our home.
Then Mark went off to my printers, TPI Solutions Ink, in Waltham which has been in business for over 60 years and is owned by siblings Carrie Grove and Daniel Spurrell. They have helped me so much as I grow this stationery business. They print all my note cards, notepads, paintable cards, calendars, and they’ll be printing my watercolor workbook which will be released later this spring. I’m putting the finishing touches on it now. In addition to printing they also pack my cards and notepads.

Featured on Made in Mass
I know some of you were able to watch it when it aired live, but I know many of you live across the country or around the world so I also wanted to share the segment with you:
I got up bright and early to watch this at 5am as I had to go to Federal Jury Duty in Boston. Luke ended up taping the other airings and it was fun to see the intros and discussion about our town, Scituate, and they also gave Luke a big shout out for making all the wooden stands for the calendars. It will air again this Sunday, April 20th a few times during the Eye Opener.
It really was a pinch me moment and I’m so grateful to Doug for doing a story on us. A huge thank you to TPI for the support and guidance they’ve given me as I take on new projects and develop new product lines. Of course, none of this would exist with you, my loyal readers at home. Who have always supported me even when I first started the blog back in August 2011. It’s been a journey and I’m so very grateful for all of you and your support.

In addition, I wanted to share Doug’s instagram page of all his beautiful photography! As you can see, he enjoys time behind the camera too. Stunning photography you don’t want to miss.
