Friday Favorites (18)
Friday Favorites – a series where I share all my favorites from home decor, to clothing, to books & movies and more.
You may remember that I started this series to feature a few of my Friday Favorites – favorite things from home decor to clothes, recipes, and favorite shows. If you missed any you can see them here.

My apologies for my absence on the blog and on social media this week. The boys have April school vacation this week so we’re having so much fun together at home. I’ll share some of what we’ve been up to in this post.
Favorite Day Trip
Luke took Tuesday off and we drove down to Provincetown. You may remember our day trip there 4 years ago, click here. We enjoyed lunch at The Canteen which has seating outside right on the beach. I LOVE their crispy brussels sprouts. If you live to far away I found their recipe for them online here.
We love going in all the shops and galleries but many galleries aren’t open quite yet. We love the used book shop and candy store on Commercial Street. John found lots of Agatha Christie books and another horror book to add to his collection. The puzzle shop is also so much fun.
My favorite thing to do is walk around the historic district. I LOVE all the homes. Here’s a glimpse of what we saw:
Love the shutters on the above home, they remind me of the Buxton Blue ones on our home. Wouldn’t that porch be lovely in the summer?
LOVE the black adirondacks framing the front door on this home:
This is perfection:
I always think this converted firehouse is so cute:
I adore this color combination:
Everyone was wearing masks down there and it felt very safe. One day we’d love to spend a bit longer in P-town so we can see more!
Favorite Books
I just finished reading Stephen King’s On Writing and absolutely loved it. It’s part memoir, part writing manual. He shares so much about his life and his craft.
If you’re looking for a suspenseful read, I just finished The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley which I LOVED. This one kept me guessing right up to the end. I also read one of her other books last year – The Guest List.
Favorite Online Classes
I’m enjoying online classes with Skillshare. I’m a brand ambassador and for this month their offering 40% off annual membership. You can click the button in my side bar or here to get the offer.
For me spending time painting watecolor in our sunroom is mediative. I did the mushroom and fern studies as part of Rosalie Haizlett’s class.
For my fern I decided to experiment with micron pen.
Other teachers I really enjoy are Ohn Mar Win (in fact I’m doing a live class with her on Monday), Zaneena Nabeel, and Trupti Karjinni. Skillshare has so many classes, not just watercolor, they include illustration, photography, marketing, music, business etc.
Favorite Films
We’ve been watching lots of films – some silly and some serious.
We loved The Trial of the Chicago 7. For some reason, I’d never learned about this in school, but it seemed relevant to watch the boys so soon after The Capital Riots. The film is so well written and acted.
Thunder Force is silly and good fun. There were many bits we laughed all the way through.
The Hunt for the Wilderpeople this isn’t a new film but we didn’t know about it when it first came out. It’s heart-warming and at times sad – the story of Ricky Baker. Sam Neill is wonderful and we love Taika Waititi. We also loved his film JoJo Rabbit.
Favorite Cozy Clothes
I keep reaching for cozy sweatshirts. I just bought this one and this one. The leopard one was on sale but I think they’re doing a 50% off sale on everything in the shop.
Well, I think that covers all our current favorites. Now, it’s your turn! Would love to hear what your current favorites are. What are you watching and reading?
A wonderful post Danielle. Provincetown looks lovely. Those homes! I love cedar shakes by the seaside. I have been thinking about joining Skillshare but how does that work? With payment, cost? and do you get to do the lessons on your own time or are they set up at a certain time of day and you must be there? I can’t find the information on the website.
Oh…and those sweatshirts are so cute!
Hi Lori, Provincetown was so much fun and it felt very summer-like for weather which was nice 😉 Skillshare is an online platform which has over 130,000 classes. They offer some live classes but most of them are recorded with step by step and materials lists. What I love is you can pause it or rewatch if you’re trying to learn something specific. The teachers are wonderful and come back with comments and tips. Skillshare also offers workshops where they bundle a few of their classes together and you have to post some images after the first class and then… Read more »

Hi Debra, I hope you enjoy Skillshare! I’ve been a member for a few years and love the flexibility of it.Oooooh, we will check out My Octopus Teacher! Thanks for the recommendation!
Hi Danielle!!!
I LOVE the fern with the micron pen!!! When I used to paint that was the way I did it.
It is my favorite style of watercolor. That image would look great as book markers, or on a gardeners’ journal.
When visiting other towns I too LOVE to roam the streets looking for vintage homes. It fills my heart and soul to think about the lives that lived there. So fun!!!
