May is absolutely MY FAVORITE MONTH because it’s Mother’s Day, my birthday, AND our anniversary. So it has been a month of celebrating over here! I have sooooooo many favorites to share this month!

Favorite Field Jacket

Girl in white jacket with lilacs

I found this jacket at Talbot’s Outlet and think I paid $40 for it. I love that you could dress it up or down and it would pair nicely jeans for dinner or a sundress. It can be cinched in at the waist. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing it a lot this spring and summer.

Favorite Hobby

I love this time of year because we’re planting our garden and watching it grow. I always feel like there’s a bit of magic involved and a whole lot of love. Food always tastes better when it’s fresh picked. We’re trying peas for the first time.

Favorite TV

We binge watched The Lost Kitchen on Discovery +. Oh my gosh, I love Erin’s story and the community of women she’s created at TLK. We want to go there so bad!!!

We also enjoyed watching This is a Robbery on Netflix about the Isabella Stewart Gardner Heist but felt it could have been condensed into two episodes. It’s my favorite museum in Boston and the kids have been there so it was fun for them to see the paintings that are missing.

Favorite Recipe

We tried out Erin French’s Rhubarb Spoon Cake recipe with fresh rhubarb from our garden. Oh my goodness, it’s so good! I think it will become a staple dessert around here this summer.

Favorite Things to Paint

I’ve enjoyed painting small seascapes and another view of the lighthouse.

Watercolor painting of scituate lighthouse with shells and paintbrush

You may have seen this posted on my Instagram. I painted it on a postcard and sent it to The Lost Kitchen in hopes of being selected to dine there! That’s how their reservations work. I took a few photos of it before sending so I may turn it into note cards for our online shop. What do you think? Should I add this to the shop? I do have another view of the lighthouse in there you guys might like.

Mini watercolor seascapes

I found these seascapes so relaxing to paint. I actually made a little video of how to paint them click here for tutorial.

Favorite Event

It would have to be my Open Studio I hosted on Sunday! Oh my goodness, life almost felt normal (even with masks) and so many people came over to say hello in our front yard. Many of you, who have read the blog for years and years! It was so wonderful to meet so many of you.

If you lived too far away or if you were’t able to attend, here’s a glimpse:

I have some framed originals and some antiques left over. Send me a message or leave a comment if you’re looking for something specific!

Favorite Books

My love for reading is in overdrive! I guess it’s great that school pick up takes so long as I’m reading lots more books while my car is parked in the pick up line.

I loved my friend Kristy Woodson Harvey’s new book Under the Southern Sky – it’s a great beach read. I couldn’t put it down!

I bought my mom Finding Freedom as part of her Mother’s Day gift. It’s Erin French’s memoir and I can’t wait to read it!

I’m currently reading The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd. I’ve had it for years on my bookshelf and I’m so glad I finally picked it up. It’s set down south and I feel like it’s the perfect time of year to read it.

I’d love some more book recommendations as I’m almost done with the Mermaid Chair!

Favorite Fish Shop

Mullaney's Fish shop in Scituate Harbor

Mullaney’s in Scituate Harbor just reopened after rebuilding the fish market. It is so lovely to be able to get fresh fish and prepared sides. It is a stunning building and so much thought and love went into it.

Look at how beautiful the bathroom is on the second floor:

If you head down we love the marinated salmon, the salmon, crab, and fish cakes, the crab stuffed sole, cooked lobster meat ( I love making this and this with it) and the shrimp cocktail.

Favorite Wallpaper

I just shared John’s bedroom reveal the other day. This wallpaper is my favorite!

Favorite Views

We opened the pool this month. You can see this photo – we had just taken the cover off! It isn’t a styled photo at all but I loved the lighting as the sun was going down.

Coastal home with a pool

Here’s a few other photos of the yard on other nights. That table and chair set was a lucky find from HomeGoods a few years back. It’s teak!

Blooming cherry tree and coastal home

I just bought these citronella candles for outdoor entertaining.

The cherry blooming makes me so happy but the leaves are starting to fall off now.

Of course, time out in the yard with these sweet dogs and my guys makes me so happy.

Well, I think that covers all our current favorites. Now, it’s your turn! Would love to hear what your current favorites are. What are you watching and reading?
