Friday Favorites (23)
Friday Favorites is a series where I share my favorite hobbies, books, films, TV shows, style and more!
I honestly can’t believe it’s already February, can you? I’m really excited to share some of the things we’re loving at our house! If you follow the news then you may have seen Scituate, our little seaside town, just had a blizzard last weekend. We got 23 inches here the harbor. I woke up to the sunrise after the storm.
You may remember that I started this series to feature a few of my Friday Favorites – favorite things from home decor to clothes, recipes, and favorite shows. If you missed any you can see them here.
Last January I included my ALL TIME FAVORITES so you might want to check that out, too, here.

Okay, let’s talk about all my current favorites!!!
Favorite TV
It’s been so cold lately – we’re talking 4°F – that we’ve been watching lots of TV. I’m LOVING this cabin show on Discovery+. We also enjoyed the second season of The Lost Kitchen.
On PBS we’re loving the second season of All Creatures Great and Small and just started The Gilded Age – it’s wonderful – from the creator of Downtown Abbey and set in NY in the late 1800s.
Some of you also recommended Houses with History which we binge watched. It’s filmed on the South Shore where we live and we loved popping into their shop Mayflower Mercantile.
Favorite Vintage Find
Speaking of Mayflower Market, I actually found some beautiful things including an ironstone tea set! You guys all know how much I love ironstone. I shared more about my collection click here to read that, but this is the new tea set I found.
I believe tea actually tastes better in them! The handles are very comfortable to hold AND the saucers have the prettiest carved detail.
Favorite Snow Day Activity
Sledding!!!! Luke and I are like kids again when it comes to playing in the snow with John and Conor. We love sledding at Widow’s Walk Country Club in Scituate. The blizzard snow was too soft for great sledding, but hoping for more good sledding this weekend.
Favorite Films
Oooooh, I have so many great films to share with you!
- We loved Free Guy – it’s a film about a non player character in a video game played by Ryan Reynolds. I knew my kids would love it but I did too. It was a really great AND funny film.
- Going in Style – has an amazing cast – Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkan & Ann-Margaret. This film came out in 2017 and we somehow missed it. Really great story, great acting, and we loved it!
- Don’t Look Up! – Another great film with a star-studded cast – wonderful writing, wonderful acting and it’s really a parable about the world we live in. It looks at politics, the cult of celebrity, and hypothesizes the outcome of a meteor hitting earth. We really enjoyed this film.
Favorite Cozy Spot
By the fire! We’ve spent many hours sitting by our fire recently. I shared more about this cozy space over on the blog recently, click here if you missed it.
Favorite Home Decor Line
I’m obsessed with the new line by Monique Lhullier at Pottery Barn. It’s all about Lily of the Valley, which I love. It’s my favorite flower and I carried it in our wedding. I plan on ordering a bunch of these items including the candles , the lily of the valley sprigs and maybe the coverlet.

Favorite Snow Clean Up Tools
We got nearly 2 feet of snow on Saturday. I’m so glad we have a snow blower.
Luke did A LOT of research on this and he loves our snow blower, we have the platinum SHO 24″ but this is the next one up from our model. Another tool that is wonderful is the snowbrum for cleaning off the cars (we both have one in our cars).
Favorite Watercolor Brush
Finally, I shared this watercolor tutorial the other day. If you are local I’d love you stop by Native to see the Works of HeArt show. All art pieces will be available for sale. I absolutely love this squirrel mop brush pictured and this lovely winter candle.
Well, I think that covers all my favorites! Now, it’s your turn! What are the things you’re loving right now?
I’ll have to check out the Mayflower Mercantile. Thank you for telling us about it.
Hi Mary, I think you’ll love it! So many great things in that shop. Looking forward for our next trip back. Stay safe today with all the ice xx
Hi Danielle!!! Are you frozen yet??? I just can’t believe that storm. I LOVE Lilly of the Valley…the smell is out of this world. My grandmother had them growing wild all around her front yard in Pennsylvania. I don’t think they could grow here in Arizona…at my altitude. I have a request (idea)…..I would LOVE to see a watercolor done of that flower. I also would love to have one of those watercolor brushes…..just because it looks so cool!!!! ….haha! Kinda pricey….but in time and as my talents rise to the occasion. I so wish I could go to that… Read more »
Hi Josette, Right now we’re getting freezing rain and sleet. The boys’ schools let out early due to concern about the roads. We’re going to walk to the art show tonight. I don’t want to drive anywhere. I think you’re right it may just be too hot in Arizona for Lily of the Valley. My mother in law actually has the plants that were used to create my wedding bouquet growing in her garden. I love it so much! Just ordered a few Lily of the Valley things from Pottery Barn. Yes, the brush is pricey. It’s currently on sale… Read more »
