Friday Favorites (24)
Friday Favorites is a series where I share my favorite hobbies, books, films, TV shows, style and more!
Can you believe it’s March?!? I’m so eager for spring to arrive – the weather here in New England is erratic snow one day, 60s and sunny the next day, and then windy and 30s. I know spring (my favorite season) will be here before we know it! So here goes my Friday Favorites for March! I’m so excited to share ALL my favorite things with you!
Friday Favorites
The Book of Kitchens
I think I’ve told you guys how much I’ve enjoyed For the Love of Kitchens on Discovery+. I loved it so much I’ve watched the whole series twice and I have my fingers firmly crossed they make a second season. I love how they decorate and design kitchen. In fact, I’m hoping to be able to turn our dining room / kitchen into one open entertaining room steeped in the traditional and classic nature of our home.
deVol Kitchens have brought out a very beautiful “The Book of Kitchens”. It’s $10 with free shipping in the US or you can flip through a virtual copy on their site. I like having an actual copy in hand to leaf through and I’ve enjoyed drinking in all this inspiration over copious cups of tea and coffee by the fire.
Here’s a peek:
This is a peek of the Cotes Mill Showroom:
And a look at the showroom in NYC:
I’ve told Luke on many occasions I want to take a trip to NYC to visit their showroom. It’s on Bond Street and they have lots of antiques they’ve brought over from the UK. Eeeek! Doesn’t that sound fabulous? It’s my dream to be able to do our kitchen over sooner rather than later (fingers crossed).
I thought this might interest my dear readers who love English style or who have home renovations / kitchen remodels coming up.

Favorite Books
I just finished reading Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon. It pretty much shares that everyone has imposter syndrome and ALL IDEAS are inspired by multiple sources – nothing is truly original, which is a freeing concept if your trying to lead a creative life or if your trying to make products using your creativity. It’s a quick and easy read – probably a half hour with a cup of tea.
I’m eager to read his other books including Keep Going and Show Your Work.
I’m currently finishing Cloud Cuckoo Land which is very very long, but I’m LOVING it. It’s by Anthony Doerr. He also wrote All the Light We Cannot See, which is one of my most favorite books EVER. I was first skeptical about Cloud Cuckoo Land because it shares stories from the future, the 14th century and modern day, but I love it. I just realized in writing this post that Anthony Doerr wrote a book called About Grace and wondered if any of you had read it before. Let me know in the comments!
I’m also reading Art Inc. which is a guide to building your life as an artist. It’s by Lisa Congdon and I’m enjoying all the artist profiles inside.
Favorite Recipe
I’ve lost count how many times we’ve made these delicious doughnuts. If you’re looking for a great baked doughnut recipe you need to try this.
Favorite TV
We just got Apple TV and LOVE the following shows:
The Morning Show – Brilliant show and so well written. The show deals with the #MeToo movement and mirrors the allegations of Matt Lauer and the Today Show. Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston are wonderful!
Ted Lasso – You can’t help but love Ted, a football coach sent to England to coach a soccer team and he doesn’t know anything about English football. His optimism is wonderful. Very funny show.
Favorite Notepads
I just launched a new collection of notepads in our online shop. I added the bunny which everyone loves. I thought it would be adorable placed in Easter baskets or a lovely hostess gift for Easter.
So far, the crowd favorite from online sales and local shop sales – is our 143 notepads. 143 means I LOVE YOU!
Favorite Jeans
I think you all know I’m quite short. I’m 5’1″ and I always have the hardest time finding jeans that fit perfectly. Well, I’m excited to share a pair of jeans I love that isn’t a bad price. I love Iman’s 360 Bootcut Jeans. I have them in black, dark denim, and medium denim. They have a control panel in the front so they’re slimming and I find the petite bootcut a perfect length for my height.
Favorite Garden Guide
My friend Jennifer over at Town and Country Living has written a wonderful Butterfly Garden eBook filled with gorgeous photography and ideas for planting. I think you’ll love it! Click here to get her new guide. She also has a new website Pond & Garden Ideas – all about outdoor inspiration.
Favorite Inspirational Video
I love Ira Glass and I’m currently taking Bonnie Christine’s Immersion Course to learn the art of surface patter design. I’m learning Adobe Illustrator and trying new art techniques. All of which takes courage and persistence AND there’s certainly “A GAP” of what I want to be able to do and what I can do right now. If you’re trying something new or if you are a creative and feeling stuck, this is a must see video – The GAP by Ira Glass.
Well, I think that covers all my favorites! Hope you enjoyed this installment of Friday Favorites! Now, it’s your turn! What are the things you’re loving right now?

I loved Cloud Cuckoo Land, long story but once you understand what is going on, really enjoyable.
I am dreaming of spring as well. I was hoping to expand my garden this year but it might have to wait until next spring (we need a new roof).
It’s a beautiful day here in Central NJ, until tonight and tomorrow. Stay safe and thanks for sharing!
Just finished the book this morning and really loved the whole thing, including the ending. Gosh, it’s so wet and miserable here today. Looking forward to warmer (sunnier) spring days.
Thanks for the link to the Book of Kitchens. I have ordered and am excited to get it. We will be remodeling our kitchen soon and hopefully this will give me some inspirations. I am old enough not to care about what is “popular” in design these days and tend to go with what makes me happy, and I think this book has the style I like. As always I enjoy your post! from Central Oregon have a great weekend!
Ginger you will love it. Every page is filled with inspiration. I love their classic style. Hope you’re having a beautiful weekend in Oregon. It’s a very cold, wet, and stormy here.
I’m so happy you’re loving ‘The Book of Kitchens’! When you guys do renovate your kitchen, I have no doubt it will be beautiful! Have a great weekend!
Hi Donna, hope you’re having a great weekend! I’m so glad you recommended this book. I really LOVE it. So enjoyable to sit with tea or coffee and day dream…
