Friday Favorites (32)
Friday Favorites is a series where I share my favorite hobbies, books, films, TV shows, style and more!
It’s hard to believe it’s already February and today and tomorrow in Scituate we’re bracing for some very cold weather -5 degrees F. I will just reiterate that I really LOVE summer and I’m counting down the days until it arrives!

Favorite Bronzer
Speaking of cold and winter – I’m feeling very pale. I ordered my mom and myself some of Bobbi Brown’s NEW bronzer and bronzing brush. It’s fabulous if you feel you would like the glow of summer! I ordered the medium tan for myself and love it. They are very good with giving color recommendations. I shared more about their natural make up last year.
I love that it’s all natural, not tested on animals, and gives a natural sun tanned look!
Favorite Books
Lately I’ve been a slower reader than normal. I find myself grabbing back issues of Country Living UK – I’m catching up from the fall and winter. I LOVED November’s issue so much.
I’m currently reading Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Prince Harry’s autobiography Spare. Both are very good.
Favorite New Collection
I adore my new Cornishware collection. I shared more about it the other week, but it truly makes me so happy to start the day with my coffee in a stripy mug or have a little afternoon tea break with Luke.
Favorite TV & Movies
There are so many good TV shows and films on currently. Most nights you can find us by the TV snuggled with blankets and a flickering candle.
Shrinking – So far we’ve seen two episodes. It was written by Jason Segel and has Harrison Ford in it. It’s about a psychiatrist who has gone through trauma and how it’s effecting his life and interaction with patients.
Poker Face – This is created by Rian Johnson, the person who brought us Knives Out. So far we’ve watched two episodes and it’s wonderful. The 10 part mystery series focuses on Charlie who has an ability to tell when people are lying. Wonderful and unexpected!
Vienna Blood – This isn’t a new show but it’s new to us. It’s soooo good if you like mysteries but be aware that there is nudity and violence. It’s set in Vienna at the turn of the 1900s and focuses on a police detective and a psychoanalyst that solve crimes together.
Kaleidoscope – This is a very interesting show. It’s kind of like “choose your own adventure” and it scrambles the episodes before the viewer starts so everyone’s experience is slightly different. So far we’ve seen three episodes. It’s very good. For us it started out as a prison / heist film series but it’s transforming into so much more.
You People – we just watched this one with John. It’s about a biracial couple who introduce each-other to the parents. He is a white jew and she is a black muslim. The acting, cast, and script are all amazing. We watched it and cringed at so many parts where parents were saying things that were obviously racist on both sides. Highly recommend.
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before – Very sweet film based on a teen novel. A great “date night” film that’s easy and light.
Enola Holmes 2 – Brilliant! This is the sequel to Enola Holmes and this is just a fun feel good film. Millie Bobby Brown is wonderful.
Where the Crawdad Sing – We loved the book and feel the film did justice to the beautifully written ode to the marsh and mystery. I do think the book is a bit more suspenseful so I would read that first.
Favorite Online Art Classes
Recently I discovered art classes by Jane Davies on Skillshare. Jane is an animal lover and specializes in loose watercolor paintings of animals. So far I’ve taken 5 of her classes and have loved them all. She paints wet on wet and in real time.
Here you can see a sweet little hare I painted from one of her classes –
I’m happy to offer my readers one month of Skillshare premium for free! I find trying new classes and techniques makes me happy and a more curious artist and maker.
Favorite Feature
Our she shed was just featured in Ikea’s Life at Home magazine. We did this project so long ago but it was fun to see it highlighted and read about the other homes featured.
Favorite New Pattern and Stickers
I recently shared this new pattern of my watercolor bunny on Spoonflower. It’s also available on there in a smaller scale for fabric and home decor products.
The bunny is also available in our online shop as many different products including stickers, notepads and more!
Favorite Mini Course
To shake off these winter blahs I thought it would be fun to enroll in this The Art of Wintering on Jeanne Oliver’s creative network. It’s a free mini course that starts today.

Great programming suggestions. Thank you.
As a summer lover myself (and one town over also preparing for the deep freeze), this is the quote posted by Gretchen Rubin today: “To be interested in the changing seasons is…a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with Spring.” George Santayana
I’m holding onto that one for the next few months!
All those shows and films are great! Enjoy! Ooooooh, and I do LOVE this quote. Very good way to shift the perspective into a positive light. I just did yoga, sipping coffee and plan on spending the morning painting with the heat cranked up in the sunroom 🙂
i LOVE the hare that you painted in your recent art class! please let me know when it is available on note cards…. he/she is delightful!!!! thanks! lynne
Love your Hare and the little bunnies. Thank you for sharing the Jeanne Oliver course, I just signed up!
