Friday Favorites (35)
Friday Favorites is a series where I share my favorite hobbies, books, films, TV shows, style and more!
Hooray! My favorite month is here! May marks my birth month – I’ll be 46 and our 21st wedding anniversary, and, of course, Mother’s Day! What’s your favorite month?
I have sooooooo many favorites to share with you this month!

Favorite Jeans
Jean shopping is the worst!!! Do you agree??? My jeans are really wearing out and I went all over Derby Street shops trying on all different jeans and I found the perfect style for me! I’m 5’1″ so it can be really hard to find petites and styles that are flattering. I found these flattering jeans at J.Jill. I love the Delray Wash. I’m a size 6 in these but beware if ordering them online the white and black run smaller – the sales assistants told me it is something to do with the dye. Some of the spring styles of washes are on sale, too, so I got a pair for $45.
Favorite Floral Display
I LOVE the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and have told you all about it before. It was built to resemble a Venetian Palace. Every April there is an exquisite display of Nasturtium flowers in Isabella’s honor for her birthday. This was the first year I’ve ever seen it despite being born in Boston! It was breathtaking.
Can you believe these are growing form terracotta pots on the 3rd floor?
I actually shared a reel of the display on Instagram.
Favorite New Products
Framed giclée prints in driftwood frames. I just took these photos this week – it’s fun when your art happens to match your home decor 😉
I will be listing more giclée prints soon. Prints are available unframed, white frames, or driftwood frames.
Favorite Day Out
Conor just started playing baseball in little league for our town. He had his second game last night. To get him excited I thought it would be fun to go to Fenway Park to see the Red Sox.
We sat in the bleachers – “the cheap seats” – this is where I always used to sit with my dad so it brought back so many lovely memories of seeing games with him.
Funny enough we went to the park on the 111th anniversary of opening day! It really is such a beautiful ball park and we lucked out with the weather.
Favorite Films and TV
We started watching the new Jennifer Garner show The Last Thing He Told Me on Apple TV. It really is pretty good.
Luke and I enjoyed Ghosted with Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. It’s an action rom-com and pretty funny if you’re in the mood for something light.
Favorite Art Exhibit
I love Hokusai’s Wave so I really wanted to see this special Exhibit at the MFA as a family. We went in April and also brought Alric, the French exchange student we had the honor of hosting.
When I saw it in person, I was surprised by the size. It’s much smaller than I thought it would be but so beautiful. It was fun to see Hokusai’s prints and all the different styles he drew in. The MFA also displayed work but his contemporaries and how he influenced current artists.
Favorite Kitchen
We had the chance to spend some time in Newport, RI and toured the Elms. It really is a beautiful mansions but my favorite part was the kitchen 😉 I took far too many photos of that space. You may recognize the Elms if you watch the Gilded Age.
Favorite Books
I just finished reading Spare, Prince Harry’s book. It was an entertaining read but can’t help but feel he may regret writing the book in the end.
I’m now reading Daisy Jones and the Six and loving it. I really love so many books by Taylor Jenkins Reed. This book is now a TV series produced by Reece Witherspoon. I’m looking forward to viewing it once I finish reading the book.

Back to your outdoor lighting – what size lights do you recommend for a single tree on a brick patio?
I can’t judge the size bulb to use based on the small size of a tree. Help.
Thank you!!
Hi Nan, I’m so glad you enjoyed this post. As for a tree, do you play to wrap the tree in lights? If so, I would do simple fairy lights you see for winter holidays. I hope that helps! Danielle xx
OH!!!! Isabelle’s garden!!!! So beautiful. If you ever make it back to California you must visit Filoli in Woodside, CA and the Bancroft Gardens in Walnut Creek, CA….to die for!!!! Ruth Bancroft lived to be 109!!!! When I went she was in her 90’s and she came out briefly in the garden to say Hello. I think her love of beauty in nature and doing her garden kept her going. Both gardens are AMAZING!!!! Yes!!! I too, am always surprised by how the art looks so small to what I figured. Yes!!! I think Prince Harry will have more than… Read more »
Her garden is beautiful and you would love it! Wow! I just checked out both those gardens you recommended and they look so luscious and beautiful. If we return to California we’ll put them on the list. Isn’t it amazing what time in nature does for your soul. I spent the whole weekend out in the yard working in our garden and I feel so good now. Hope you had a super weekend. Danielle xx
Hi Danielle! I visited the Gardner Museum a couple winters ago. It must be spectacular with the courtyard garden in bloom! I also enjoyed Ghosted. And I am planning on watching The Last Thing He Told Me soon! Thanks for all the recommendations!
Molly, it truly is amazing at the Gardner. I go back multiple times a year. I LOVE being in that courtyard and surrounded by so much art! We’re watching Daisy Jones and the Six and it’s sooooo good. I loved the book too!
