Friday Favorites (41)
Friday Favorites is a series where I share my favorite hobbies, books, films, TV shows, style, and more! I have so many favorites to share this month from short getaways to apparel to books and lots of fun TV.
I’m writing this by our twinkling Christmas tree and a roaring fire. I can’t believe I missed a Friday Favorites for November – so sorry it has been a busy couple of months. We did eight markets over a month and a half period and EVERY weekend we were doing a market. Our kids walked down to the Maker’s Market on Small Business Saturday at Birch Barn:
Favorite Night Out
The other week I drove down to Mashpee Commons (which is super cute, by the way) to celebrate my friend Michele and her pop up for Coastal Brahmin. Her shop is ADORABLE. I bought a sundress, some lovely blue and white napkins, and went home with a few gifs from Michele too.
It was a very festive evening and Michele has such a wonderful eye for interior design and fashion design. She designs all the clothing for her shop and each one is hand block printed.
Favorite Blazer
While I was at her shop this beautiful navy blazer caught my eye! Isn’t it stunning?
I actually went home with one and it’s my new favorite blazer. It’s so cozy and warm but at the same time looks put together and sophisticated. I’m wearing an xs, she recommends sizing down for a more fitted look.
I wore it to our last holiday market – Merry Market in Cohasset and found that Michele was wearing it, too. Here is us twinning:
The best thing is it’s reversable so you end up getting two blazer in one.

Which way do you like it better? Michele is offering my readers a discount of 25% off for the blazer! It would look lovely for Christmas, New Year’s and even into the spring / summer. Here’s my special link to her shop.
Favorite Book
I finished The Hotel Nantucket and really, really enjoyed it. I told Luke that I wanted to read her winter series this winter so I think he’s getting me Winter Street.
Right now I’m reading The Sanatorium by Sarah Pierce and it’s so good. It’s very suspenseful and a tad scary and I can’t put it down. It’s set in the Swiss Alps at a new hotel that used to be a sanatorium and a storm rolls in and the guest are very isolated and in danger!
Favorite Family Day
Fashioned by Sargent at the MFA
For months I’ve wanted to go to the MFA to see the new exhibit of John Singer Sargent. We just went in on Sunday and it was wonderful.
It’s called Fashioned by Sargent and it juxtaposes his gorgeous paintings with some real life garments. He took special liberties and also told his subjects what colors and clothes to wear. I found the whole thing fascinating. I love his work and was mesmerized seeing so many paintings I’d never seen before.
What struck me was how modern some of his paintings felt, for example, the pose in the above painting and the floor felt very much like it could have been painted in the last few years.
It truly was lovely to see this show. I highly recommend it. It is on view through January 15th.
Sitka Home Art Gallery
From the MFA we walked over to Newbury Street to Sitka Home Gallery. I saw online that they were doing an exhibition of Sitka’s work. His exhibition is called “My Hand Behind Ralph Lauren Prints: 1990s-2015” You can see a little reel here that gives a wonderful explanation.
I’ve always loved Ralph Lauren’s patterns so it was so lovely to meet the hand that created them. We got to chat to Sitka and his wife, Helaine Gulergun (an artist, as well) and they were so warm and welcoming. It was inspiring for John and myself to hear more about how he created his patterns and art and actually see his sketches.
Here’s a glimpse:
This exhibit will be on view through December 16th. They may extend it after the holidays, but weren’t sure when we were there. We look forward to going back for another visit.
After that we had a lovely and relaxed early dinner at Eataly. We love their pizzas and salads and love bringing home Italian goodies, like fresh made pastas and cheese.
Favorite Soap
I just discovered Atlantic Soap Company. I met Caroline, the founder at Michele’s gathering, and I fell head over heels for her soaps. She makes them on Cape Cod in small batches with sea water. I bought all different bars and so far I think my favorite is the Chatham Kelp Beauty Bar. I think you’ll lover her soaps and she’s such a nice person too!
Favorite View
We had just a dusting of snow here in Scituate, our first of the season, and it always feels magical to wake up to this kind of snow. I just had to share the photo with you!
Favorite TV / Movies
We’ve watched so many great things lately.
Family Switch – with Jennifer Garner is fun and really well done. If you want something light and fun.
Genie – is another fun holiday film. It has Melissa McCarthy as a genie and is on Apple.
Dash and Lily was a wonderful TV series on Netflix that we binged. This is very sweet and I think my favorite we’ve watched this season.
