Friday Favorites (53)

Happy Friday, friends! I can’t believe how quickly February is flying by. It’s school vacation week and we’re having fun at home and we’re visiting a few local colleges with Conor this week too. It’s time for Friday Favorites and I’m excited to share some of my favorites from TV to films to books and home decor.

Favorite Day with My Family

After 3 years, we finally had enough snow for sledding! Hooray. I made a little reel if you want to see. We love to go sledding at Widow’s Walk, a public golf course in Scituate.

Favorite Books

I’m reading Ina Garten’s new autobiography, Be Ready When the Luck Happens, and loving it. I got my copy from Buttonwood Books in Cohasset but I’m also including an online shopping link if you’re not local. So I don’t know much about Ina but really enjoy her show Be My Guest where she interviews famous people while they cook together. The book is fascinating and I love learning more about her and her super supportive husband.

Favorite Pillow

I just got this extra long lumber pillow at Noted. I couldn’t resist it. Luke jokes that pillows breed in our home and it’s been quite awhile since I bought a pillow so I snagged it. It was 50% off.

Here’s how it looks on our bed:

Blue, white, and tan bedroom

I love the nubbly texture on the pillow. The duvet cover and taupe sheets are from IKEA. The duvet is a few years old but they still stock this pattern at IKEA and we got the sheets the other week.

You can see the full bedroom reveal here. More about this space:

  • Wall Color – Simply White by Benjamin Moore
  • Balboa Bed (Queen) – Serena & Lily
  • Photography – one of my own from our California Trip
  • Lamp – HomeGoods, but this is similar

Favorite Fragrance

I really love Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist by Sol de Janeiro but wanted something not as summer-y so ordered a small roller ball of Shower by Jones Road and love it! The roller ball is only $18 and is great for travel.

Favorite New Product

I’m loving using these little cottontail bunny mini pads. They are so sweet. See the entire cottontail bunny collection here.

Favorite TV / Films

Oooooh, I have a lot of good programs and films to share. Here’s what we’ve been watching lately:

TV

  • Day of The Jackal – Eddie Redmayne as you’ve never seen him before! This series is suspenseful and has me on the edge of my seat with every episode. On Peacock.
  • Paradise – starring Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden. It’s about a secret service agent and a former president. We’ve only watched the first episode, but so far love it. There’s a twist but I’m not giving anything away. On Hulu.

Films

  • Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy – I LOVE Bridget Jones and I always will. On Valentine’s Day we watched the next installment set 20 years later. Bridget is older and has children. This one is really good and we really enjoyed it. On Peacock.
  • Invictus – From director Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. This is the story of the South African rugby team in the 1995 World Cup. I wasn’t familiar with the story and really enjoyed watching it with Luke and Conor. On Max.
  • Back in Action – starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. It’s lovely to see Cameron Diaz back in films. It’s an entertaining film about retired spies. A great date night in movie! On Netflix.
  • Misbehaviour – Both Luke and I loved this. Star-studded cast about the 1970 Miss World and the Women’s Liberation Movement. This is so well done and so relevant even today. I loved it! On Amazon Prime.

Favorite Moments

I’m really enjoying sharing my love of watercolors and really enjoyed teaching two sold out classes at Noted in February. This month we focused on seascapes. I thought it would be fun to escape the cold and snow through art.

It was lovely to see friends there. My friend Jenna above and that’s her first watercolor painting! Isn’t it great? You can see a reel I created of the class here.

We’re adding more classes for spring.

Favorite New Restaurant

While John was home from RISD on a short break between winter session and the spring semester we all went out to the Oysterman which just opened in Scituate. It’s such a lovely space. They have a back bar which is dark and moody and is great for drinks (we had drinks with friends on a Friday night there). For our family dinner we sat in the main dining room and it was lovely. We highly recommend the buffalo cauliflower:

I loved the hoisin salmon. Wow, amazing! This dish was so big I had the leftovers for dinner the next night.

The food, the service, the ambience is all amazing if you’re looking to try something new in town!
