German Glitter Glass Anchors
Ever since I was little I LOVED sparkle. My mom and I used to go antiquing and I could spend hours looking at the paste jewelry and the chandelier crystals.
Tastes change as you grow up.
BUT my love for sparkle is still intact.
Adding shimmer to Christmas decorations is one of my favorite things to do. Our tree is filled with German Glitter Glass stars I made a few years back.
I knew the German Glitter Glass was coming back out when I spotted these anchors.
What?!?
They were just asking to have a little glimmer added to their life.

- Anchors – I found mine in a local shop, but these look similiar
- Matthew Mead’s Silver Metallic paint by Fusion Mineral Paint
- German Glitter Glass – I used this one. These by Miss Mustard Seed also look nice here and here
- Elmer’s School Glue
- Craft Brushes
- Wax Paper
- Aluminum Foil
I love working with Meyer’s German Glitter Glass. It’s made with real flecks of glass shards and sparkles like you wouldn’t believe. I also love my friend Matthew’s metallic line over at Fusion Mineral Paint.
First you want to paint your anchors and allow them to dry. I like to put wax paper down to protect my counter. Sorry for the darker lighting, it was a gray day in my kitchen.
Once dry, paint on Elmer’s glue:
While still tacky, place your anchor in a glass container and spoon on the glitter glass. Then you want to lightly tap with your hand to remove the excess (as you would when glittering paper or smaller child’s craft).
Place back on the the wax paper and move onto the next anchor.
It is that easy to add lots of sparkle and shine to your christmas decor!
I’m loving how these anchors look on our stockings this year. The perfect coastal touch.
