GMC Hidden Treasure Adventure 2014
I have some very BIG NEWS today! Some of you who attended Haven may already know what I’m about to say because of this picture:
At the Haven Conference in Atlanta I won the chance to join other bloggers and go with GMC on the World’s Longest Yard Sale. If you were one of the 300 bloggers at the conference then you saw how utterly surprised and stunned I was when Chris Srock from GMC called my name. I wish I was yelling and screaming. But I was speechless. Shocked. I couldn’t believe I won.
I first heard about this event last year and got to see the amazing adventure other bloggers had searching for treasures to do up a house for a Habitat for Humanity family. Watching this video, I had tears streaming down my face.
I enjoyed following the 2013 adventure on my friend Liz’s blog. She took part last year.
It is no secret I LOVE yard sales. My mom had me going to yard sales before I could walk and speak. We’d go off on joy rides looking for treasures. As many of you know, I do this most weekends with my own kids. Through my blog I shine up old furniture and unwanted items to look better than new and give them a place in our home or others to be cherished.
I can’t think of a more amazing event to be a part of. I am so grateful for this opportunity. I can’t wait to make a difference along the way.
Our journey will begin in Atlanta on Wednesday, August 6th and we will start our Hidden Treasure Adventure on August 7th. We’ll be driving brand new 2015 Yukon XL Denalis along 650+ miles of yard sales along Rt. 127. Driving through Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio.
My mind can’t begin to comprehend just how many treasures and yard sales there will be. We’ll search through heat, rain and traffic to get the very best for our Habitat families.
Once in Cincinnati, Ohio, we’ll be doing over a house for a Habitat Family and I’m so very excited about this. I can’t wait to make a house (brick and mortar) into a home which the families will see on August 10th.
Are you wondering who I’ll be going with?!? I just found out yesterday and I’m so excited! There are two teams and two houses so we’ll be helping two families in all.
In the DIY Bloggers Group there will be: Nick & Beth from Sawdust & Embryos, Taryn from Design, Dining and Diapers, Amy from The Idea Room, Allison from Two Thirty Five Designs and me!
The GM Foundation Blogger Group is: Zondra from The Six Brown Chicks, MJ from Chicagonista, Rene from Good Enough Mother, Brooke from All Things Thrifty and Courtney from French Country Cottage.
I am excited and nervous and can’t wait to share our adventure with you. Be sure to follow along on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! We’ll all be using #GMCHTA If you’ve been on this yard sale and have any tips, please share them here!
Come on the adventure with us & keep your fingers crossed!!!!
I didn’t realize the winner was you! You definitely looked surprised when you walked to the front at Haven to accept the award. Have a great time and be sure to share all of the details with us.
