Hand-Made Holiday: Old Fashioned Gift Tags
My old fashioned gift tags |
When I think of Christmas, I think of sitting wrapped up on the couch with the fire crackling, the twinkly white lights on our tree and sipping eggnog while watching It’s A Wonderful Life. I like that old-fashioned Christmas.
So, here is another installment of hand-made holiday ideas! Today, we’re going to discuss gift tags. I know, it is easy to just peel off one of those stickers and stick it on your wrapped present, but I promise you that this is really fun and will give your gifts a very pretty and unique look.
If you would like to recreate this look here is what you need:
Rubber stamps and label puncher |
Materials:
Card stock
Label Puncher
Ink Pad
Rubber Stamps
Ribbon or Jute
Hole Puncher
All available from your local craft store
For the old fashioned look, I chose cream and tan card stock and stamps I already had from my DIY: Wine of the Month Club and the Model Magic Ornaments. All you need to do, is punch out the labels from the card and stamp on the desired stamp or letters. I used black ink because I thought it gave it an older look than the usual green and red of modern Christmas. You can add glitter if you’d like, but again I was going for an old-fashioned theme.
Here are some examples of the gift tags I made:
My 5 year old, John, loved helping me with this one, too! So it might be a fun one to do with your kids leading up to Christmas.

Perhaps you’d like to see what a package looks like with the home-made gift tag. Well, here it is, complete with one of our model magic ornaments! What do you think?
I love these! I was in anthropology yesterday and saw some cool tags but the price wasn’t so cool! You just gave me a good idea 🙂 Thx!
Glad I could help 🙂
