Home For the Holidays: Christmas Crafts

It’s party time again!  Kristy over at Hyphen Interiors is hosting our Christmas Crafts Themed Link Party starting today. I’m so excited to share some hand-made ornaments with you.  On Black Friday many people like to go shopping, but I stay as far away from shops as I can get.  After going out for breakfast with the boys and my parents, my mom and I stayed in and made some ornaments.

We first started by dusting pine cones with german glitter glass.  We got our’s at Save on Crafts.  I used plain old Elmer’s white glue.  Then I spooned on the glitter glass and shook off the excess.  I then let it dry on wax paper for a bit.

Next up we had some fun with clear glass balls that I also got from Save on Crafts.  One set we filled with white german glitter glass and small sea shells.  I used twine to hang them up.

The other set we filled with silver german glitter glass and sheet music.  I got the ‘vintage’ sheet music from the Graphic’s Fairy here.

Then we cut out the song lyrics and mod podged them around the outside of the ornament.  I put some mod podge on the back of the lyrics and stuck it down and then did a protective layer around it.  We used fabric off cuts to hang the ornaments.  It just added the right shabby chic touch.

I’ll be sharing these ornaments over at Kristy’s link party today.  Hope you get a chance to party with us.

I’d never heard of Black Friday till recently, but I think I’d avoid it too.
The decorations look lovely, I like the idea of doing little beach themed ones.

Danielle…I’ve always wanted to craft with german glass glitter!! Does it adhere well? My only concern would be bits of glass that the boys could get stuck with if some escaped. What do you think? Have you run across the same thing? I love the silver and gold glitter that they offer…WOW!!
