Lighthouse Photography for the Office
“Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.” – Anne Lamott
I have a slight lighthouse obsession (particularly the lighthouses here in Scituate). I love looking at Scituate Light and Minot Light. My friend Kjeld Mahoney has taken the most beautiful images of both.

For a full year, I’ve had my heart set on these two metallic prints of Scituate Light and I’ve been saving up for my office. I thought they would look perfect against the Revere Pewter walls and boy was I right!
I bought two images for the office. One of the lighthouse with the waves crashing in a storm and the other with the waves passing.
Conor and Luke got busy hanging them for me.
The plastic hammer just wasn’t doing the job.
I love when he wants to help!
These images look amazing in here! Here’s a wider angle so you can see:
This room isn’t very large and these large square metal prints make the room appear bigger. In the above photo you can see more of the office – our new sofa (that I found pillows for at HomeGoods) and the perfect desk chair! You may remember the driftwood standing lamp I found at World Market.
The frames, which are reclaimed barn wood from Tennessee, work so well with all the neutral tones in this room.
Aren’t they pretty?
Having these reminders of the guiding light of the lighthouse is so lovely in our home office. A reassurance of safety and that one is not alone, even in dark times.
These are printed on metal which gives a luminous quality. The light reflects from the window and it gives the illusion that the waves are still crashing within the photo.
Here you can see what I mean, although I know that the photo is a bit dark of the room, you can see the beautiful glow:
What do you think of the new lighthouse art?
You may remember I have another one out in the she shed, click here to see that. If you’d like to read more about Kjeld, I interviewed him as part of my creativity over coffee series click here.
Thank you all so much for your patience with our home office makeover. If you missed previous posts you can read them here, here, here and here. The wait will be worth it in the end 🙂 Some more big plans to come and we may be replacing the ceiling too (old houses – you know how they go…)
you have made your home beautiful and these are a wonderful addition xx
Your lighthouse prints are beautiful. I grew up near the coast of NC and have several prints – even cross-stitch prints – of Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke, and Cape Lookout. I have had them in boxes for years because I wasn’t sure where to put them in our current house, let’s face it the mountains of TN really doesn’t have a place for lighthouses, but your post has inspired me to bring them back out and find a place for them.
Your office is coming together nicely.
Love the frames and contrast of the tones of wood with the metal. Plus love the lighthouses and coast too! What is your source for the frames?
Thanks!
These look SO GOOD. And I love that quote at the beginning of your post 🙂
Yes, Danielle! Great pictures of the lighthouse, with the right touch and finishings! kisses ML
Looking for a Sunday linky party since Sunlit Sunday is only held during the winder. Love the looks of your blog. My home is filled with antiques from both sides of my family and I have given to other members of my family til they don’t seem to want them any more. They are all younger than me and want new spacey items. I like a nesty type home. Will see you on Sunday. Thanks for playing hostess.
Your lighthouse prints are beautiful. You have made your home So nice. And I Love the frames.
