Lite Margaritas
Who says margaritas are only for Cinco de Mayo?
Not I…
In fact, I could drink those lovely lime drinks all year long! We’ve been enjoying them recently and I think I’ve perfected a lighter variety.
It all started at a local restaurant we love, Salsa’s in Hingham, and we opted for the lite margaritas. Luke and I loved them. You know how sometimes the margarita mix makes you feel a bit like you sucked down a whole pack of sour patch kids after your first drink. I also find myself getting really thirsty after.
These lite margaritas are so refreshing and use mostly lime juice and seltzer water so you don’t get that sour patch kids effect. I actually like this better than the very popular Skinny Girl mix because all the ingredients are fresh.
Lite Margaritas
1 ounce premium or silver tequila,
1/2 ounce Cointreau or other orange-flavored liqueur,
1.5 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice.
zest of the lime
1/2 ounce agave nectar
Seltzer water
Shake with 3/4 cup ice; garnish with lime. I don’t like salt but please add to the rim if you do!
I used star shaped ice – ice trays from Ikea.
These margaritas are so refreshing after a hot day in the sun. The mix of lime zest and juice, sweet agave nectar and your favorite tequila are heaven. The fizzy seltzer adds a lovely bubble too!
Just what you need after a day at the beach, or in our case, packing!
Hoping to have a few more of these on our back deck before the big move on Tuesday! Hope you enjoy the recipe!
