How to Make a Nautical Garland
Happy Friday, friends! Have you started decorating yet? I started this week and am loving all the Christmas-y items around the house. Isn’t unpacking all the ornaments and crafts from year’s past magical? I came across a few ornaments I made with the kids when they were very little. So sweet to find.
I’m so excited to share a few more glimpses of our tree. Today I’m sharing how to make a nautical garland. You all know how much I LOVE living by the sea. My decorating this year is very much embracing the look of a coastal Christmas.
This is a super easy craft and you probably have most of what you need to make it!
How to Make a Nautical Garland
Materials
– Coastal Chart (or any other paper you desire) – Paper Shape Cutter (I used a circle) – Sewing Machine – White or Natural threadMethod
I used nautical charts for this project. If you don’t have nautical charts then you can use any craft or card stock you’d like. I then cut them out with a paper craft cutter. If you don’t have one you can draw circles or other shapes. I think little stars would be so sweet too.
You want to make sure you have enough circles. You’ll need LOTS.
Then turn on your sewing machine and start sewing.
You want to leave a few inches between circles.
To do this you keep your foot on the pedal and continue “sewing” nothing and then put another circle to sew. That is all there is to it! This only took a few minutes and then it was ready to go on the tree!
Well, I did play with it in the guest room first.
I loved how the garland looked up there. It got me thinking that these circles might be cute in the playroom once Christmas is over 🙂

Awesome idea, Dani. We still haven’t set up our tree yet. We are going next weekend to a farm to get fresh one cut. Every time I see a sewing machine, I am reminded of how much I miss sewing. I had one of those beginner one and I broke it trying to sew thick upholstery fabric. My new one will be here this weekend. I can’t wait to get my sew on!

I too love that your garland can be used after the holidays. Will try to find out how I can get nautical charts. Where or how did you get your nautical charts? Great idea to use those, gives garland different feel, great tutorial how to make sewn garland. Your tree is so pretty, the flocking makes it looks so soft.
