Maverick Halloween Costume
Our youngest LOVES Top Gun and wanted to be Maverick for Halloween. Here’s our Maverick Halloween Costume.
I think our son, Conor, was born in the wrong decade. He LOVES Indiana Jones, Die Hard, Top Gun, Goonies – pretty much all the 80s classics. He’s so excited that they’re making a sequel to Top Gun.
Anyway, you guys all know how much we love Halloween around here. I shared a few images from when the kids were little and a few Halloween free printables here.
Conor usually loves everything military. Last year he was an army soldier. You can find that costume here. This year he wanted to carry on the military theme. I think my dad would have loved this costume as his dad taught at the Air Force Academy and my dad dreamed of being a pilot himself (a hearing issue kept him from passing the physical).
What I love about this costume is it’s pretty easy, you probably already have most of the elements.

Maverick Halloween Costume
You’ll need:
Jeans | White T Shirt | Aviator Sunglasses | Dog Tags | Pilot Jacket (similar)
My mom gave Conor the bomber jacket last year for Christmas. The dog tags we found at Spirit Halloween.
Other things you may consider:
Top Gun Hat | Flight Suit | Patches
Conor’s hair is really curly so we wet it and combed it for extra hold I might add some gel on Halloween.
That’s it! Such an easy costume. Conor is so excited to be Maverick this Halloween. I’ll be sharing John’s costume tomorrow which is a little more on the scary side and involves liquid latex.
What are you dressing up for for Halloween? Oh, you may want to see what Luke and I dressed up as over the weekend here.
Danielle, he looks so cute. That’s a great costume, and will be comfy and warm too.
I saw your Instagram picture of you and your husband. That’s funny, that is the costume I am planning for my husband to wear to his office party! But he has blond-grey hair. Oh well, he’s not going to color it. I’m curious…what are the tags you are wearing around your necks?
Happy All Hallowed Eve!

Hi Christine! I know, I used to hate putting coats on over my costume, but Conor will be all set as he has the bomber jacket. Oh, I’m so glad your husband is going as Clark Kent. It was really fun dressing up. The tags say Daily Planet Press Pass on them. We found them on Amazon here (affiliate links): https://amzn.to/2NrDZc2 and here: https://amzn.to/34cMiPK
