Mid Century Chairs and White Floors
Our sunroom got a bit of a refresh with mid century chairs and fresh white floors. This contemporary look is perfect on the coast.
Thank you all so much for your kind words about the paint we used on our floors, if you missed that post you can see it here.
Paint truly is magic in a can and I knew it would give this room a modern and fresh look. I will admit that I was worried about the dogs and the floor, but so far so good. The dog hair made painting a little challenging. Both Poppy and Max shed and despite vacuuming and swiffering their hair was on the floor whilst painting.
Anyway, I wanted to share more about this room today.
Thank you to Raymour & Flanigan for kindly sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.
We visited Raymour & Flanigan showroom back in March. I ordered the beautiful Adirondack set I shared the other week, click here.
Do you see that room with all the windows? That’s our sunroom. It gets wonderful light and also has amazing views of our pool.
We originally did this room over five years ago, and it was in need of a refresh. You can see how it looked when we first did the space over. Most everything was thrifted.
Lately, I’ve been feeling like our home has too much stuff. I love that minimal modern look but mixed with antiques and old things. So out went the gray chairs and the rug.
I designed the new space around these gorgeous mid century chairs from Raymour & Flanigan. They arrived so quickly and delivery guys were great! They placed them just where I wanted them. One of the guys also commented on how cool they thought my new chairs looked!
This is the Vane Chair.
It’s solid wood in walnut finish.
The seat is rope!
How perfect is that for our coastal home?!?
This chair is a replica of the wishbone chair from the 1949. In 1944, Danish designer Hans Wegner began a series of chairs that were inspired by portraits of Danish merchants sitting in Ming Chairs. This chair is a replica.
Bentwood frame and the streamlined legs have a nice modern feel.
I dragged one chair in first before bringing in the table and other chairs.
It’s surprisingly comfortable.
I LOVE how the warm wood pops against the newly painted white floors.
They look even better than I imagined they would.
This room isn’t large but the shape and texture of the chairs makes the space feel bigger. These chairs also take up less space (spatially and visually) than the gray chairs we had before.
Is it possible to be in love with chairs?
Yes.
Yes, it is.
A huge thank you to Raymour & Flanigan for partnering with me on this fresh look for our sunroom.
Fresh as a Spring breeze! I cannot believe it was 5 years ago looking at your previous sun room picture…I do remember seeing your blog (my very first blog ever) as you prepared to move into your present home. I had just gotten a tablet from my niece and Wow, amazingly I no longer had to sit at a desk and not so comfy chair to connect to the world.
I think you are terrific.
Thank you, Beverly, isn’t it crazy how far technology has come?!? I’m so glad I was your very first blog and am so grateful you’ve followed our journey over this time period. Your comments really made my day. Thank you xx
I also like a clean minimal look after recently doing some renovations to our home. I don’t like rooms with lots of stuff. Your sun room looks amazing! It looks so peaceful and must be magical looking out to your pool and gorgeous yard. You must feel like you are on vacation every day! Hope you have a wonderful summer in Scituate.
Thank you for your kind comments. I have the decluttering bug. We had a yard sale last weekend and have also been donating and selling items on yard sale sites. It feels good to let go of some old things. I love spending time in this room because of the views and sunlight but it also feels peaceful. We really do feel like we’re on vacation every day. The boys finish school next Tuesday and I’m counting down the days until they finish 😉 Wishing you a wonderful summer. Hope you’ll pop back for a visit on Wednesday – will… Read more »
