As a parent there are often instances where one wishes that you could freeze a moment in time. My boys, John and Conor, are growing up so quickly. I love each stage, but as the years pass I feel like time slips by so quickly. I can’t believe it is already November! Now that John is in school full day, he spends more time at school than he does with me at home. Soon he will lose his baby teeth and the whole landscape of his face will change. Today he’s 5, but soon he’ll be 10 then 20 and so time marches on.
Last week, we were lucky to have Katina Bentley take some photos of our family. We had so much fun and the weather was great. The photos she took were beautiful. We put a hat on John, as an after thought, and are so happy we did. Usually, John is my joker, my party guy with the jazz hands, but this photo shows another side of him. A pensive, thoughtful and empathetic side. I look into his deep hazel eyes, and see the flecks of gold and green, that mirror my own. In this photo his sensitive soul is shining through.
I also have a favorite image of Conor. It is a close up of his face, with him looking directly into the camera, and his large blue liquid-filled eyes the same color as the sea. It is gorgeous.
If you are interested in seeing some others from the shoot Katina’s posted them on her blog. I’d love to hear what you think! I’m trying to decide which ones I like the best. Her photographs capture precious moments of my children that I will treasure forever. If you will, she has frozen time for me.
