Moss and Pussy Willow Wreath
I look forward to the first signs of spring all winter long. My moss and pussy willow wreath incorporates some spring favorites.
Today as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Tour hosted by Krista over at The Happy Housie we’re all sharing some beautiful spring wreaths that are easy to make!
I thought about using all new stuff and buying supplies and then I looked in the basement and found so many things I could use. I took the wreath base from this fern one I created last year.

How to Make a Moss and Pussy Willow Wreath
Supplies
- Grape Vine Wreath or Wreath Form of Your Choice
- Hot Glue and Glue Gun
- Wax Paper to protect surface
- Pussy Willows (these were from the super market last year)
- Faux tulips
- Faux hydrangea
- Assorted Preserved Moss
- Floral Wire
As usual, Max is curious about what I’m doing…
You’ll notice I decided not to use the purple flowers but had everything in front of me while creating so I could place colors and textures before gluing.
Method
Step 1 – Line your surface with waxed paper to protect it. Place wreath on surface and get a rough idea where you’d like to place elements.
Step 2 – I started by gluing the pussy willow. I cut each branch to desired lengths. I used hot glue to attach to the wreath.
Step 3 – Attach tulips using floral wire. I also used some hot glue, as well.
Step 4 – Using hot glue, attach assorted moss to cover the ends of the branches, any glue or wire that’s showing.
I mixed different varieties of moss. Layer more and more. I also added one white hydrangea.
That’s it! This wreath took me about 5 minutes to create. I hung it out on the pool house to take a few photos.
It looks so pretty against the blue door.
Since we’re still getting wet weather and some windy days here in New England I decided to bring it into the sunroom to enjoy while I’m painting and working on other projects.
I love the simplicity of this wreath. To me it looks like the moss and tulips are growing on the wreath. I really love nature-inspired decorating. If you do as well, you might like these DIY Birds Nests I made last week and these pansies in eggshells from a few years ago. 😉
Would love to hear what you think of this little wreath!

SO pretty, danielle! i love the texture and whimsy!
Thank you, Cassie! So excited spring is on the way. It actually was 60 degrees here yesterday!
I love your wreath. It’s just perfect. I also LOVE the blue paint on your door. Do you by any chance remember what brand/color the paint is? Never mind, I just did your search feature. . . .:) thank you for the search feature. Buxton Blue by Benjamin Moore
Hi Sheryl, I’m so glad you like the wreath. It was so much fun to make. We color matched our front door and shutters which is Buxton Blue by Benjamin Moore. I would go with high gloss as it makes the color more dreamy 😉
I love the wreath with the combination of colors of the siding and the door. Could you share the names of those colors? I have just moved and those colors are just what I am shooting for. Thank you
Hi Lucia, this pool house was actually originally a she shed I did with Home Depot. You can see the makeover here: https://www.findingsilverpennies.com/my-coastal-she-shed-reveal-and-sources/ The gray siding is actually vinyl so I’m not sure what paint color it would be. The front door and shutters we matched our homes door and shutters which is Benjamin Moore’s Buxton Blue in high gloss. Hope that helps!
So pretty! Thank you for the inspiration. What do you use to cut the wired faux flower stems? My wire cutter ( a found object) is terrible!
Thanks in advance.
It’s different and i love using the moss and pussywillows, very pretty.
Danielle- your wreath is so pretty. I love that you used all white flowers. The natural elements show up beautifully! I also love your little bird nests. I have everything I need in my basement to make the wreath except for the moss. I have inspiration from you, now I just need it from the weather. The ground is still white and it was just snowing up here in Hancock, New Hampshire!
Thank you for sharing.
Truly a work of art! I just adore your style. xo
So pretty! I love the texture of your wreath with the flowers! I pinned it to my Spring board.

I am a staunch believer in reusing things…”USE IT UP, WEAR IT OUT, MAKE IT DO, OR DO WITHOUT” was my parents mantra. When I started blogging I vowed to not buy things just to blog—which is hard with all the seasonal …postings. Thanks so much for the reminder, we all have items/craft supplies that need to be reused, and your wreath is lovely—! Sandi
I love how it all came together and how nice that you get to enjoy it indoors for a while before Spring officially arrives.
So Nice!
