Muted Fall Entry
How to create a muted fall entry with heirloom pumpkins, fresh corn stalks and ferns.
I’m always drawn to the softer side of fall: white pumpkins piled high, pretty blush and green heirlooms, and, of course, lots of green.
I’m delighted to be sharing this muted space as part of my friend Krista’s Seasonal Simplicity Tour. Today is all about porches and entries.
The weather is still pretty warm, but the cooler air is coming in, so my ferns are loving the weather.
Over the weekend we picked up fresh cornstalks, I keep calling them corn husks, but anyway. I LOVE that these are so green and have corn on them still.
If you’re local, you need to check out Lambert’s in Marshfield. These are 10ft tall cornstalks and were only $7.99 per bundle. In time they’ll fade to a straw color but for now I’m embracing the beautiful green.
We secured them in four places with jute twine.
On the steps, I’ve piled pumpkins high. I’m pretty impressed with the pumpkin selection this year. I found these at Trader Joe’s and Shaw’s. The heirlooms were $6.99 per pumpkin which isn’t bad. Last year I bought one and it was $40!!! I almost fell over but LOVED the color. So this year the entry is much more affordable.
The name of this one is porcelain doll. I love how pale it is, with just a hint of pink.
I love the stem on this one:
We made the cedar door mat over the summer and we’re still loving how it looks out here, but will probably take it in before the winter.
Stacked pumpkins always look so pretty and relaxed at the same time.
The front door still has the succulent wreath from Balsam Hill. I’ve had it up all summer but I thought it tied in so nicely with the green pumpkins and cornstalks.
I also tucked two Mums on the steps and, can you believe, I picked up muted orange ones. As you guys know, I’m not a huge orange fan, but it’s creeping into our home this year. I shared more pops of orange here in our home tour post last week.
I kept everything pretty simple in our window boxes. The flowers, sea grass and vines I planted for summer are still doing great. So I just tucked in some delicata squash and pumpkin pie pumpkins from Trader Joe’s.
I love how all the pretty colors are mixing together.
The golden autumn light is so pretty here by the sea.
I hope this post gave you some ideas if you like the softer side of autumn, like me.
Stacks of pale pumpkins and fresh ferns are so classic and timeless.

It looks so fresh and I love the green corn stalks so much!
Your home is so gorgeous and I love the simple and soft fall touches you have added. So pretty!
Your porch looks wonderful. We may go this weekend. I’m on the hunt for pale pumpkins. They are my favorite. I’m thinking of pumpkins and lanterns this year.
I adore mums and know they are inexpensive but they die quickly. I want the porch to continue to look wonderful throughout the season.
Enjoy the rest of your day
Cindy

I’m with you on the pumpkin colors, the pale pinks, greens, and white shades are so pretty. The green cornstalks with ears of corn are great, and that cedar door mat adds such a classy touch to your welcoming entry.
