My 5 Minute Natural Makeup Routine
I often get asked about the makeup I use, so I thought I’d share my 5 minute natural makeup routine with you!
The older I get, the more I enjoy the natural makeup look. I love seeing freckles and, yes, wrinkles. Those tiny smile lines around my eyes means I’ve found joy in life.
I’ve also become a lot more conscious of what is in the products I buy. Finding companies that make beautiful products that are cruelty free is important to me. I’ve talked a lot about reducing and reusing on this blog and it means a lot when a beauty company holds those same values.
Here’s a glimpse of the makeup I use most days. I’m really excited to share the products I love and how to use them!I’ve been getting so many questions about the makeup I use that I thought it would be fun to share in this way. I’ve also created a little makeup application video. Please note I’m not a fashion blogger or style blogger. I’m more comfortable painting or photographing interiors. Ha! Ha!
What is natural makeup?
I started using Jones Road a year ago. I treated myself to makeup during the pandemic as a pick me up. Jones Road is created by Bobbi Brown and its make up for every complexion and skin tone. Many items are multi-purpose and can be applied with fingertips. They can be layered on top of each other for a light natural look.

I use many of Jones Road Beauty supplies, but also have some other brands I mix in as well. Here’s a list of what I use below. (I’ll also share some of the Jones Road Products I love and why later in this post).
- Jones Road Light Moisture Cream
- Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Natural
- Jones Road Face Pencil (I used shade 13 and 8)
- Jones Road Miracle Balm (I used Bronze)
- Jones Road Just a Sec Eyeshadow in Linen
- Jones Road The Best Pencil in Brown
- Bronzer by Arbonne
- Eyelash Curler
- Lancome Definicils Mascara in black
- Jones Road Cool Gloss in Nude Beige

Time needed: 5 minutes
Natural Makeup Routine
- Apply moisturizer
I love Jones Road Light Moisture Cream. I apply all over my face and also my neck.
- Apply concealer
I apply two different face pencils, especially under my eyes (where I have dark circles), around my nose, and any other part of my face that has discoloration or blemishes.
- Add some tinted moisture
Instead of foundation I like to add a little tinted moisturizer.
- Bronzer
I love the look of a healthy glow, even in winter. I apply bronzing powder with a large brush.
- Time for Miracle Balm!
I love applying this balm to my lips, my eye lids, my cheeks and forehead. It give a nice glow.
- The eyes have it.
After applying the Miracle Balm. I dust Just a Sec eyeshadow in linen on my upper lid and brow bone and on the inside edges of my eyes. Then I apply brown eyeliner. Curl my lashes and apply one layer of black mascara.
- A gloss on the lips
I finish the look with a gloss on the lips – I love Nude Beige and golden shimmer.

FAQ – Answering Your Questions about the Natural Make Up Look
Actually, I’ve found it refreshing! Bobbi’s team makes it so easy. You can email them photos of yourself so you can get the right shades. They helped me select the Face Pencil colors based on the photos I sent them.
Not at all. I’m actually quite impressed with how smooth the face pencils and eyeliner go on. They glide right on. I’ve bought some eyeliners from other companies that scratch my face and these feel wonderful.
I love that Jones Road offers kits. You can get some smaller sizes and try things out before buying a larger size. I love small size sample balms.
I LOVE this product. I have three kinds – the bronze, tawny, and dusty rose. My favorite is the bronze because I’m a beach girl at heart – I always want to feel like I have a tan!
Yes, I have very dry skin. I use this in the morning and at night before bed. They also make a heavier face cream but I haven’t tried it yet.
I didn’t show this in the video but love the Sparkle Wash – it’s a liquid shadow and I have it in So Pretty. It add just the right amount of color and sparkle to my eyes!

Some of these products by Jones Road look great. Very tempted to try the Face Pencil and Miracle Balm. I was interested in the Tinted Moisturizer but Laura Mercier products can contain Emu oil. Emu birds are killed for this oil so this is not cruelty free which is important to me.

You’re welcome. I have sent in a picture to them for shade recommendations. I think I need the #7 face pencil but they are out of stock so I may try #8 instead of waiting because I’m actually excited about trying these products. Maybe I should just go for a kit lol.
