My Favorite Sources for Teak Furniture
Teak furniture instantly gives a coastal look. I’m excited to share my favorite sources for teak furniture. Oh, and did I mention they’re also affordable?
We put our pool in last summer and it’s certainly become our favorite place to relax and play as a family, but also to entertain with friends. I shared a few pictures in our home tour post last week.
Our boys just finished school yesterday so to celebrate our first official day of summer, I thought I’d share my new teak furniture as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Patio Tour hosted by my friend Krista.
Why Teak?
Since moving to our home I’ve been obsessed with finding affordable teak, which has alluded me up until now. You maybe asking yourself, why teak? Teak is a tropical hardwood with a beautiful golden / honey color when new. When left outdoors (untreated) the wood will gradually become a soft silver gray patina. Teak is a durable wood that will last for many years, the change in patina doesn’t affect it’s strength.
A long time ago I fell in love with a set in Scituate Harbor but we couldn’t afford it. The table alone was $5,000, then the benches and chairs. Well, we just couldn’t swing it. Luke built me a cedar set which you can see here and here. This set has stood up wonderfully and I love it on our back deck but I really dreamed of teak for our pool area….
I’m excited to share I not only found a dining set but also a little patio set.
Teak Patio Set
Since Luke created this gorgeous coastal window box, I wanted something a little smaller in front of our pool house. The inside is getting a makeover as I type this.
Look how sweet this set looks in front of the shed?
This set was handmade in Indonesia and even has adorable brass plats on the set.
Can you guess how much I got it for?!?
$129 from the Christmas Tree Shops. I went in to get some faux starfish and some sunscreen and also came out with this set.
We get evening sun on this side of the deck so it will be perfect to sip rosé or cocktails freshly mixed in the pool house.
Isn’t that the best deal?!?
Okay, now for teak set #2!!!!
7 Piece Nautica Set
When I found this set my heart skipped a beat. Okay, maybe several beats. I went over to it in a daze and stroked the table top. The teak wood was so soft and smooth. About 4 people said to me how gorgeous the set was while I was pondering how I could convince my hubby to let me invest in it! My mom was with me and she’s always good at convincing me.
I stood there for probably 10 minutes. Snapping photos and sending them to look. Telling him just how amazing the set was and how it would be perfect for the pool area.
You can’t tell from the photo but this is a very large set. The table is 4 ft wide and approximately 7ft long. It’s sooooo heavy.
It actually took Luke and I and John to carry the table.
I love how the legs splay out and have a bit of a mid century flair to them.
The chairs are gorgeous as well and remind me of rope.
The base is teak that matches the table while the top is resin wicker with a cast aluminum and iron frame. The seat cushions are made from a fade resist all weather fabric.
Aren’t they just gorgeous. They’re so comfy, too. I actually take the cushions inside when we’re not using them to extend the life of the cushion.
We now have so much room to spread out when eating dinner outside. It really does make a difference when you’re entertaining a crowd.
Okay, now I have to spill the beans, right? Where did I find this gorgeous set?!?
I found it at HomeGoods. Can you believe it?!? I found this 7 piece set back in March. The price was $1,999.99. I know that seems like A LOT, but when you compare it to other places and full price then it’s a bargain for such a big and heavy set.
I told Luke it could be my birthday, Mother’s Day and anniversary gift all in one 😉
The umbrella is also a new addition. It’s from Ikea. We felt like because the table is so much bigger than the Ikea set we had last summer, that we should get a larger umbrella so the whole table can be shaded when desired. These loungers are also from Ikea.
I’m really so pleased with the new additions we made to our patio this year. It’s nice when you find exactly what you’ve been dreaming of, especially when it’s a fraction of the cost.
Should You Seal Your Teak
This is a preferance thing. I decided NOT to seal the teak. I do wipe it down but living here in New England I love when teak ages naturally. I love that silver-y gray, but if you want to keep that golden hue you should seal it.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our summer patio and I hope you got some ideas for teak sources.
We love relaxing out here. If you need us, we’ll be out here most of the summer 😉

your pool looks so dreamy! love your home and yard, danielle!
Thank you, Cassie, it was a dream come true to create this space for our family. Watching the kids play in the pool as I type this. xx
That table and chair set is incredible! Dreamy backyard space my friend.
Thank you, Ashley! xx
So charming! I have an indoor teak table and outdoor teak table. Both stain horribly from oil. I loooove weathered teak and am at a loss how to move forward. Cleaning has done little for them.
These steals are almost as beautiful as your backyard!
I’ve been doing research for you and am going to get some of the woca oil teak products – they have a soap and sealer. I’ve had luck with their other products on the farmhouse table my hubby built and the wide plank floors in our bedroom. Can you believe those deals?!?
What a fun and relaxing backyard! Enjoy your summer.
It’s nice to feel like we’re on vacation at home.
Your new furniture is gorgeous, and love that weathered grey too.
I love it when it weathers at Dannyelle x
I luv the table set. How do you think the chairs would be on grass? This set would be beautiful in the backyard of our Maine family home❤️
Thanks, Ann, I think it would be okay on the grass. These chairs are pretty heavy so may kill the grass under them, though.
Hi Danielle, any tips on removing stains from untreated teak outdoor furniture? Thanks so much!
Hi Liz, I’m so lazy when it comes to our teak I’ve let it gray and weather, but I’ve had some luck in sanding it down to get the natural wood color back. I have actually bought stuff to clean, protect and seal – last year, but haven’t done anything with it. Ha! Ha!
