Nature Inspired Fall Home Tour
Natured inspired fall home tour – We’re bringing in branches, gorgeous autumn blooms, and grasses to welcome the new season to our coastal home.
Here in New England the air is refreshing and crisp, the sun is coming up later, and the leaves are starting to turn the most magical colors. The boys have started back at school this week – in a hybrid model – two days at school and three days at home. I took the opportunity to begin decorating for fall. I had Carly Simon blaring as I styled and photographed. I had so much fun and I’m so excited to share our nature inspired fall home tour. I will be sharing our downstairs rooms with you in today’s tour. I actually took so many photos of each space that I might do a more detailed post on each room during September and October.

Fall Entry
This is the view when you enter our home. I haven’t changed much in here since our entry refresh last fall. That’s actually a floor cloth on the floor that looks like tile and it’s perfect with kids and dogs. I added a few vintage books and this beautiful arrangement in a blown glass vase from Ikea.
The lamp, marble-topped dresser, and mirror are all vintage.
You’ll notice this season I’m very drawn to greens, grasses, and this lush fuchsia color in the hydrangeas from our garden.
I found the Cockscomb Seeds at WholeFoods and I’m currently obsessed with them. Don’t they look like velvet? You’ll see more of these in our dining room.
Opposite the dresser is our staircase – you’ll notice the intricate details on the balusters.
Our umbrella stand is new and I love the vintage image of our home from 1960s.
Fall Living Room
Okay, let’s head into our living room. I already shared our mantel with you last week.
This room also has lovely dark woodwork and period details. We love sipping tea or wine by the fire with a good book.
I’ve repeated the hydrangeas along with some sedum.
On the other side of this room is where we hang out with our two boys. We love to watch movies on Friday night.
Again, I’m trying to use what I already have on hand. I did buy that new succulent in the bamboo container from Trader Joe’s I just couldn’t resist.
We all have an obsession with faux fur throws in our house. Max especially… That one is actually on sale right now!
You’ll notice I added candles and vintage brass to warm up the whites in our living room.
Fall Dining Room
Let’s head through the dark wood columns into our dining room. You maybe saw on Instagram or Facebook but we just celebrated my mom’s 80th birthday over the weekend so they beautiful flowers are still on the dining table.
I gathered flowers from our garden – zinnias, limelight and vanilla strawberry hydrangeas, ornamental grasses and zinnias. I added in some greenery and those cockscomb seeds from WholeFoods.
These sweet blush mercury glass votive holders are so dreamy at night.
I’ll share more photos of this room but have to share one of our chippy blue cabinet.
I already had everything in this vignette but I bought the pampas grass. I’m obsessed with it! I love the softness and the neutral color. Isn’t the texture wonderful?
Fall Kitchen
Here you can see into the kitchen from the dining room.
I absolutely love our stools and have had them for the passed 7 years. They’ve really stood up wonderfully in our home.
I made the Fresh Oysters sign for Luke and the floor cloth I moved from our upstairs bathroom. I cleared all the countertops to make the kitchen feel bigger. This space can get very cluttered. It’s where they kids eat snacks and leave EVERYTHING on the counters.
For fall I brought in a pitcher full of wheat and bunny tails (I saved them from last year).
My husband and kids love snacking on apples. We usually go apple picking but haven’t this year. I filled a vintage bowl with assorted apples.
I have to show you my hand carved fish. I actually got it the same day I got the above bowl, both from a consignment store.
You can see our view of the dining room. Again I’ve added a fragrant candle and some flowers.
Over by the sink have the sweetest mini mum my neighbor gave me.
I took far too many photos of our kitchen but will share more in a later post.
Fall Sunroom
Finally, the last room on our fall tour is our sunroom.
I already shared this pretty arrangement here.
This room overlooks our yard and has beautiful views of our pool. I love reading and painting out here. It gets wonderful light. Sadly it’s only a three season room but we’re hoping to make it four season next year.
The small sunflowers are from Conor’s sunflower plant and the larger one is from John’s. I love bringing the outside in and enjoy using all the plants we have in our yard.
The only rooms I didn’t include on our first floor are our teeny tiny bathroom (with the corner sink and toilet) and the boys’ playroom, but you can see the playroom here.
I hope this gave you some simple ideas for fall in your own home. Be sure to see all the beautiful homes featured in Krista’s Seasonal Simplicity Tour this week.

Gorgeous flowers in you fall tour Danielle and your dining table is my all time favorite. Going back to look at all your photos again. Happy Fall!
Aw, thank you, Michelle. Flowers make me so happy and we had the nicest celebration for my mom in the dining room. xx
Lovely. The old woodwork is wonderful in your home. I grew cockscomb one year and it was a favorite! Yes, velvety, ruffly gorgeousness…..
Hi Rita, we love the warm wood. We heard the original owner / builder hand picked each piece when he built the home in 1927. I love cockscomb. I wonder if I could grow it here next summer. It’s so pretty.
I love your home with its natural stained woodwork and old charm and simple but beautiful fall decor – just perfectly done!
Thank you, Ann. I had so much fun “slow” decorating and making pretty vignettes. So glad you enjoyed the tour. xx
Beautiful tour as always and Max is so stinkin cute.
Thank you, Julia. Max is the sweetest. Rascal by day, angel by night. xx
Gorgeous as always Danielle! I love a glimpse of New England and your home.
Hi Debbie, I’m so glad I could bring back memories of New England for you. xx
Danielle your fall decor always inspires me! I love all of your flowers and pops of color! Beautiful!
Thank you, Kelly. Flowers make me happy. I’m love that deep fuchsia color this fall. x
I loved getting a peek inside your home! Lovely flowers and old world charm. I pinned your home to my fall board 🙂
xoxo
Thank you, Jennifer. I’m sitting in the sunshine with a pumpkin ice coffee and about to take all the home tours. I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I wish I could visit everyone in person xx
Beautiful tour, Danielle! Love all your florals and you know I had to pin the photo of the hand carved fish in your kitchen! I pinned more than that though. 🙂
Love all your gorgeous fall flowers Danielle! The fushcia ones in the entry are stunning and I’m dying over your hydrangeas on the mantel!
