New Lighting in the Bedroom
We hung up the new lighting in the bedroom. See how these coastal lights are already transforming the principal bedroom into a coastal oasis.
I’m so excited to be writing this post today because it means we started our bedroom makeover.
The other week I shared our plans for this space. We swapped rooms with our kids during the summer.
This room is NOT going to be done all at once. So thought I’d share the makeover in installments.

We decided on this beautiful scallop capiz chandelier:
Pretty capiz shells are the centerpiece of this light and they’re trimmed in beautiful warm brass. This light fixture is centered in the middle of the room, but the bottom of the bed will be under it.
This is a versatile light that would work in a large or smaller room and you are able to adjust the length of the chain. Luke shortened the length for us. I will say that it’s pretty difficult to take links out so be warned. If you do I’d recommend practicing on one you don’t care about.
The capiz shells softly defuse the light so it’s very romantic reading in bed now.
I’ll try and get one with the light on when the room is complete.
We also put up the Aptos Shell Sconces. They are absolutely stunning in person!
Each shell is strung by hand – can you believe that! When Luke and I were taking them out of the boxes I said, “Gosh, I’d hate to have to do that for a job, or to wrap the lighting up.” These lights were so well-packaged to prevent any breakage. Each strand of shells was individually wrapped.
I love how the shells rain down from the woven detail at the top.
The shells add texture and also a pale peach / pink to our bedroom.
Since these lights don’t have a switch we opted for the Ikea smart bulbs and remote. We can turn the lights on and off from bed and also dim them.
It’s really a great option if you also have lights but no switch. We did the same thing in the kids’ playroom with lights that change color.
Here’s how the lights look off:
And on:
They really are so pretty at night!
So I still need to find a mirror to go between these sconces, linen curtains (Ikea is currently out of stock) and a comfy reading chair. Let me know if you guys have any recommendations.
Oh, if you guys liked these lights – Serena & Lily is doing a huge 20% off sale through tomorrow night so you might want to check it out.
The bed should be arriving sometime in November and Luke will be building our bedside tables. 😉
I’m so excited to share our progress with you!
Really Pretty!!!
I’m so glad you like the new lighting! xx
