Oktoberfest in Scituate
Ice cold beers. |
During my Junior Year Abroad, I enjoyed three lovely days in Munich, Germany. It is such a beautiful city – the people, the scenery and the architecture. I fell in love with Neuschwanstein, the castle that Sleeping Beauty’s castle was model after.

We spent many hours at the Hofbräuhaus where I had my first stein of beer and my first brats. Wow! Those steins are humungous! The music, the sites, the food, the beer. It was such a great experience.

I have never been to the Oktoberfest in Munich which is an annual beer festival. It is held to clear out the summer beers in celebration of the new brews and one of the most famous events in Germany. If you haven’t been either, you may enjoy Oktoberfest from the comforts of your own home!
Some friends just hosted an amazing Oktoberfest filled with festive decor, oompah bands (via an iPod) and ice cold beer. As you can imagine, much beer was consumed by some very willing people all in celebration of Germany, of course! On offer were: two Oktoberfests (Hacker-Pschorr and Paulaner), Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA, Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale and Sam Adams Light and Bud Light (for the faint hearted).
Pretzels |
In Germany I sampled many large pretzels. The hostess made the most delicious ones with the right amount of salt and served them with different spiced mustards – a really lovely touch.
Prost! |
