On Trend: Round Coffee Tables
I had no idea that buying a sectional would make me want to change our rectangular coffee table. Today I wanted to share our new one and on trend round coffee tables.
You probably can’t tell but I’m soooooo excited to write this post today. For almost a year, I’ve had our old coffee table in here and it was just too big with the sectional. In case you missed it, you can see it in our fall home tour here:
I’m not sure if you can tell just how big it is in the photo, but it was a struggle getting cozy on the couch. It is a beautiful heavy coffee table and I loved the coastal finish I gave it, but it just wasn’t working with the new couch. I will be selling this if anyone is interested.

We purchased our white sectional back in October of last year from the clearance showroom at Boston Interiors, it’s by Rowe, but it’s very similar to the Pottery Barn Comfort Slipcovered Sofa. We still love it just as much as we did a year ago. It was the best choice for our family. We love spending time here with the boys watching movies and Poirot. The nice thing is we can all lounge and be comfortable.
Your probably wondering why it took me so long to commit to a coffee table. Well, it’s a long story…
I found a modern coffee table online that was lots of $$$$ and Luke told me he could build me one so we got the wood, white oak, when we purchased some lumber for his work bench. I was all excited and had high hopes that my coffee table would soon be built. Well, not exactly…
Luke is very busy with his full time job and he’s working on his workbench still in the basement. It’s actually coming along really well. You guys also might remember that he spent many hours on our pool landscape. So the coffee table still needs to be built.
The only thing is when I get something in my head, I kind of get obsessed. I kept searching online for tables. I was looking at yard sale sites and Craigslist and my usual favorite shops. Are you guys the same way? I just kept thinking a round table would make our living room feel bigger and also be more comfortable for our family.
I also like the idea that with a smaller, and round, coffee table you’d be able to see more of this gorgeous oriental rug. It was an amazing yard sale find!!!! We got it when we first moved into our home and we still love it just as much 5 years later.
Anyway, one day I was searching online and World Market was having a GIANT sale – 20% off and free shipping. I saw this coffee table and thought it would work perfect in our space.
It is just as pretty in person as it was online. It’s hand carved and fire etched in India. I love that it has imperfections and beautiful wood grain. The mango wood adds warmth, and the rosettes and carved pattern add visual interest and texture, against the white sofa.
It looks so great with our dark woodwork and white walls.
Since I saved so much on the table, I also bought two blue velvet pillows and some oil bottles.
If you look around our room, you’ll see a lot of square and rectangle shapes: the furniture, the mantel, the columns, the doorways. The round table adds a softness to the room that I think was needed.
You can get a feel for it in the whole room from this angle and this angle:
Now there’s more room for the dogs to enjoy this room with us, too.
I will include a full source list below, but before I do I want to share a few more round tables that I’m loving in case this look would work in your home. This is the first time we’ve had a round coffee table and I LOVE how functional it is.
This table is very similar, and a lot less than Ballard Design’s Bornova Coffee Table:
The Ballard Design option comes in various colors and is larger, but the World Market version worked wonderfully in our smaller living room.
If you’re thinking of round coffee tables, here are a few others I liked in varying price points:
Round Tribal Coffee Table / Parquet Wood Reclaimed Coffee Table / Wasser Coffee Table
Anguilla Rattan Coffee Table / Grayden Sheegreen Plinth / Bamileke Outdoor Table
Bornova Coffee Table / Haylie Wooden Coffee Table / Market Coffee Table
This table has made a world of difference in our living room and we’re loving the new addition.
I often get asked about sources in our home so I will include a full source list below. I also wanted to share that I’m currently offering e-Design Services and Consultations. You can read more about that here and here.

We have a round coffee table with our sectional, too. Works perfectly!
I love the mango wood tone with the white slip covered sofa and darker woods in the room.
I bet Luke is relieved. 😁 I ordered a desk from World Market this past weekend during the 30% off holiday weekend sale! So many people in our area are not familiar with World Market. I guess they don’t spend much time reading blogs 😱
Oooh, that is a pretty table, and I love the more open view of that oriental rug. Really a pretty room and getting all cozy for cold weather.

I love the table in that space. The shape and proportions look great in that pretty room!

The room looks beautiful!
I have the same round table and my very smart husband had a piece of glass cut to fit perfectly to cover the top, it’s a great idea to protect that wood!
Wow what a big difference the round table made. Love your pillows and the chic, refreshed look!
Great choice with the new coffee table, love the wood!
Your table is very pretty and i love the wood color and texture it has. I think sometimes round just works better, it has for me.
Love it! Super texture too. Seeing the room I can understand why you wanted a round table.
I am like you, when I get something in my head I OCD a bit. It took me a year to find our coffee table room
Enjoy the rest of your day
Cindy
We need a round coffee table for our sectional. The kids have torn apart the seagrass trunk we’re currently using. Thanks for the inspiration!
