Painted Mason Jars
Today I’m over at All Things Girl talking about spring blooms and unconventional containers. You can see my piece here.
I’m really loving the ranunculus that are keeping me company in the kitchen. I decided it would be fun to paint my ordinary Ball jars from the super market to give them a more joyful look.
If you’d like to create this look, here’s what you’ll need:
– Glass Canning Jars
– Paint Brush
– Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
– Fine Sand Paper or Wet Paper Towel
– Flowers
Ball Jars |
Simply paint with two coats of your favorite Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Color. I’m loving Arles, Paris Grey, Old White and Provence for this but any color would be gorgeous.
Once dry, sand with a sanding block. You can also use a wet Viva paper towel and wipe away. I found the sanding block to be quicker.
Here’s how the jars looked after:
These would also look great to store rulers, markers, paint brushes or other crafting items. I absolutely love flowers and have been filling my house with some beauties from Trader Joe’s. I picked up these great ranunculus for $5.99 a bunch.
I trimmed them…
and have been enjoying spring inside my home. I love the wild and very country look of these flowers with the painted jars.
What about you? How are you bringing spring inside your home?
I love this look! I think I might try it to grow herbs in the house! I love mason jars! Will be pinning this to my board just for them on Pinterest! Thank you for sharing at the Give Me The Goods Link Party!

Oh your jars are so pretty! I’ve been wanting to try this too. Do you need to wax or otherwise seal them? … And ranunculus are one of my favorite flowers!

Marucci, it would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift! Can’t wait to see how they come out!
Love this! Plan on making some for my sister’s baby shower! Would you drink out of them after they were painted? Any way this could be done safely?
Hi Alexandra, They would look fantastic for her baby shower. I’m not sure if you could drink out of them. The paint is only on the outside so wouldn’t contaminate inside the jar, but I didn’t seal them so not sure how well they will stand up to being washed. Hope that helps! Danielle x
