Painting the Walls White

Our dining room has a clean slate!  I spent all of Monday and part of Tuesday painting the walls white; three coats in all.

It was really my first opportunity as Monday was Conor’s first day of school.  I put the radio on, taped the dark wood work (which took a little while) and then got painting.

My legs are still sore from going up and down the little wooden ladder I have.  I feel like I did a million squats, but it was so worth it.  On Monday, I did two coats in the entire room.  I was physically exhausted at the end of the day.

I painted the walls in Benjamin Moore’s Mascarpone.  It is a rich and creamy white and I love it just as much as I love the cheese it is named after!  The original wall color was Summer Harvest also by Benjamin Moore.  You can see how much lighter Mascarpone is compared to Summer Harvest.

Summer Harvest isn’t a bad color but I felt it was too dark and made our wood work look a bit dingy. But now this dark wood looks rich against the creamy white:

Looking at these newly white walls makes me so happy.

The white against my Chalk Paint® hutch (in Annie Sloan’s Old White and a custom mix of Provence and Duck Egg Blue inside) looks perfect!

The newly painted radiator cover makes my heart sing!

The white makes me want to do twirls across the dining room!

But then I glimpse the chandelier which has to go and the table that has to be refinished.  Oh, and then there is the sad chairs that need to be painted and reupholstered….

Soon it will be the room I envision.  If you want to see what I’m dreaming of for this room click here.

Today is also a very special day!  Today I need to say “Happy Birthday” to my mom.  She is the one person in life that always believes in me even when I don’t.  We talk each morning and she has read each and every blog post I’ve ever written.  I remember when she was my only follower.  She is the one who keeps me dreaming, who inspires me to be better than I am and is such a wonderful mother.  I love you, Mom.  Happy Birthday!  Here’s a sneak peek at a table I painted as part of her birthday present.
I’ll share soon on the blog!  Happy Friday, my friends!
