Pizza Night!

In our family Friday is pizza night, whether it be eaten at the beach, on the deck or by candle light in our kitchen. It was a tradition started when I was little, we always had pizza and a movie to start the weekend. My husband and I always split a pizza pie and a bottle of wine while finishing our working weeks in London (pre kids); Pizza Express and a bottle of vino infront of the tube. Pizza offers a slice of heaven for your mouth with its melting cheese, tangy tomato sauce and served on a bed of carbs.

My favorite pizza in Scituate has to be, hands down, Riva’s Pizza. I’ve been a huge fan since it opened. Dare I say this? Riva’s Pizza is better than all the pizza we had in Tuscany in May! Wow. I know it is that good!
Riva’s Pizza is located in North Scituate on Country Way near the N. Scituate commuter rail station in a brightly colored building. Just look at that photo! Don’t you want to reach into the computer / phone and pull that pizza out? The best thing about Riva’s pizza is the super thin crust, gorgeous Tuscan tomato sauce and amazing toppings. This authentic Italian pizza has the freshest ingredients. Our kids love their cheese pizza, but I have to admit I’m in love with the Cagliari (applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions and goats cheese) and the Sicilian (topped generously with four cheeses and extra pepperoni). The Caramia gives a spicy bite with its Italian Sausage, mozzarella and hot cherry peppers while the Margherita is a real crowd pleaser with fresh mozzarella, torn basil and crushed tomatoes.
I highly recommend Riva’s signature salads as well. The Caesar has homemade croutons, shaved parmesan tossed with fresh romaine lettuce. The Wedge offers a large helping with smoked bacon and homemade gorgonzola dressing. My favorite is the Insalata Mista because of the sweet and savory mixture of mixed greens, gorgonzola cheese, balsamic vinergerette, dried cranberries and walnuts. Yum.
Riva’s Pizza opens at 4pm and there is usually an hour wait, so get your orders in early.
If you are abroad, my pizza pics are:
Pizza Express – I naturally love the American Hot!
Zizzi – you can’t beat their super thin crust.
Basilico– A favorite of our family in North London. I would walk miles for these wood fired pies!
Buon Appetito!

I miss Pizza Express! Do you have California Pizza Kitchen on the East Coast? It’s sort of like Pizza Express, only not quite as good. 🙂
