Pool Progress – Rebar
Week 2 of the pool! Things are really moving quick with our pool progress and I wanted to share how the rebar is looking.
In my last post, I shared the digging and the plumbing. Here you can see all the plumbing in place:
Above you can see the filter locations, and the plumbing that will lead to pumps and pool workings, that will all be tucked in by the fence.
The crew from South Shore Gunite Pools was here all day doing the rebar:
Rebar is steel rods that are used in gunite pools to give reinforcement to the structure. In the past I’d heard of cracks or issues with gunite pools but, if installed properly, gunite is invincible. A gunite pool is so strong that you could drive a bus into it and it wouldn’t break the pool, but the bus would be totaled.
It’s almost like they weave the rebar and they clamp it together with little pieces of wire.
The guys told me our pool has a ton of rebar, a literal ton!
Here’s the rebar done. The pool will be level to that wooden banding.
It really is amazing to watch the pool materialize before our eyes.
