Pretty Dahlias in the Dining Room
Slowly but surely fall is creeping into our home. I’m excited to share pretty dahlias in the dining room.
This season of fall, I’m embracing “slow decorating”. In previous years I’ve been in a decorating frenzy searching for gorgeous heirloom pumpkins and pretty mums, but this year is different. Many of my friends are doing home tours, which I love and I enjoy seeing all the gorgeous inspiration. Organization of home tours happened while we were away in California. So this year, I decided to hang onto summer a little bit longer and also take my time decorating because I have no deadlines I have to meet. Of course, I’ve already seen such beautiful pumpkins and plants popping up EVERYWHERE but I decided I would wait until after September 21st to decorate with pumpkins and pretty fall plants.
Last week I shared this gorgeous outdoor Dahlia tablescape HERE. You’ll see it has the same hues- reds, pinks, greens, and whites as this pretty bouquet.
This is the first time I’ve ever used this color scheme in the house and I really love the rich colors with our dark woodwork.
I ordered a Dahlia share from my friends at Cross Street Flower Farm and I’m so glad I did because it means fresh Dahlias each week.
This makes my flower-loving-heart extremely happy.
I flanked the flowers with two blown glass candle holders from Ikea. I bought them last spring to use them during the summer and I never got to it. Can you believe they’re only $4.99 a piece?
They’re hand blown and I adore the shape. Understated coastal elegance! I filled the candle holders with this fine stone vase filler from Crate & Barrel.
It gives the look of beach sand which I love.
The welsh dresser and blue cabinet still are adorned with my collection of ironstone and shells.
The warm heartwood pine table Luke built looks perfect mingled with these flowers.
The chairs and slipcovers are actually from Ikea and you can read how I keep them white HERE. Don’t look too closely in the above photo as they’re in need of a wash 😉
