Puppy Love

Ah, February! The month of love! I’m not really a Valentine’s Day person per se but I do love celebrating the people and animals I love. I’m excited to share my newest watercolor – Puppy Love! I wanted to share a short post about this new work and a local event I think you’ll love.

As you know, my sweet rescue dogs really hold such a special place in my heart. I plan on doing a whole series of watercolor dogs but the first one is our sweet Max.

Puppy Love

Watercolor Painting of Terrier Mix

Max is now 7 years old, a terrier mix, and is just the sweetest, cuddly dog. He sleeps between Luke and I at night and is my little shadow during the day. He enjoys curling up next to me when I’m painting or writing and he loves his big sister Poppy who is now 13. In fact, it was Max who gave Poppy a new lease on life. When she was 6 we brought little Max home. She had been sleeping a lot (and in hindsight we think she was lonely), but he made her young again. They love going for walks to the beach in the morning. They love each other so much and still chase each other around our yard.

You can read more about adopting Max here and here. I’ve also written a post about Poppy.

“Whoever declared that love at first sight doesn’t exist has never witnessed the purity of a puppy or looked deep into a puppy’s eyes. If they did, their lives would change considerably.”

I painted this based on the above image. The love we feel for our pets is so special and the love they feel for us is just as important and cherished. Max and Poppy have both brought us so much happiness.

Works of the Heart

I framed this painting in a simple black frame from The Frame Center.

I’m delighted to share Puppy Love will be hanging at Native in Scituate Harbor in the Works of the HeART show. The opening night reception is tonight (February 2nd) from 5pm-9pm and the works will be on view through February 10th.

Each work in the show is 10×10 and it really looks so amazing to see every artist’s interpretation of a heart. I can’t wait to see them all hanging tonight.

Wishing you all so much love and happiness this month and through the entire year.

I have MS and have trouble with my hand dexterity. I started making art with buttons and beads. It has made me feel like I have value again. MS stole that from me and I grabbed it back!

I have a 12 yr old German Shepard we “rescued” from a family who was overwhelmed by him. He was 8 weeks old when we got him.

We also have brother and sister rescue kitties. They are three. The dog does not like them.
