Setting the Table for Thanksgiving
I LOVE setting the table for Thanksgiving. I think it all stems from growing up in a restaurant. I love coming up with ideas to make a table warm and inviting from adding vintage finds, fresh produce to lovely watercolor accents. Here are 19 ways to set the table. I’m still figuring out what I’m doing this year… Simply click on the title to read more.
1. Simple Thanksgiving Ironstone Centerpiece & Watercolor Place Cards
There are a few video tutorials that go with this easy tablescape. Pears are strewn across the table along with leaves. At the center is an ironstone bowl with a flower frog holding the floral arrangement in place.
A wash of watercolor and black ink create the torn place cards.
2. Dahlias and Hurricane Lanterns
I LOVE dahlias. They seem unruly in a way and have such pretty colors. I love placing them in simple glass vessels and flanking them with simple clear hurricane lanterns from Ikea.
3. Bittersweet and Pumpkin Table
For this table, I foraged bittersweet from the beach and placed pumpkins and candles in an old factory crate. Faux fur on the back of seats and striped pillows add a softness to the woven chairs.
5. Earthy & Rustic
Lots of wood, brass, pears, and succulents make for a simple and warm table.
A mix of patterns adds to the fun:
6. Dahlias & Wine
Another idea with dahlias. This time scattering them across a table and using wine bottles to hold candles.
7. Artichokes and Hydrangeas
This is such a pretty and understated centerpiece designed by GFV Floral Design. I love how Gerilyn used artichokes mixed with white hydrangea and pale roses.
9. Ticking Stripes and Watercolor Menus
I love blue and white ticking stripes. I paired them with hammered flatware and watercolor menus (free printable). I’m hoping to have a free printable for you guys for Thanksgiving this year.
11. Found and Foraged
I know I’ve told you this before, but this is one of my favorite tablescapes because it encorporates so many meaningful elements – my mom’s china and silver and some of my favorite flowers.
12. Brussels Sprouts
Yes, I used brussels sprouts on this table. I love eating brussels sprouts, too!
13. Fresh Fall Flowers
This post is more about putting together all different arrangements from sunflowers to hydrangeas and zinnias. So many ideas.
14. Maple Leaf Place Cards & Copper Chargers
There are two different projects here! Get the fun maple leaf printable:
You can add the names you want on this free printable. In addition, learn to make your own faux rustic copper chargers:
15. Baby Boo Pumpkins and Hobnail Glasses
You’ll see I like to re-use some elements like the glasses or the chargers. This post also includes a Fall Sangria and Luke’s favorite Old Fashioned recipe.
17. Preserved Mushrooms and Thistles
I love using nature in my tables and I love this preserved mushrooms I found. I paired them with thistles and other greenery. This was our Thanksgiving table last year.
19. Vintage Finds
Keeping it simple is best. I used these vintage glasses as votives and just placed a thrifted linen table runner under them.
I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you some inspiration for your own Thanksgiving celebration! You might want to save this for future reference too:
