She Shed: DIY Giant Shell with Succulents
I partnered with the Home Depot for my She Shed project.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the tutorial on Monday about our coastal coffee table. I’ve been getting lots of questions about the this giant shell filled with succulents.
I adore succulents for a few reasons:
- Easy to look after.
- Yes, it is okay if you forget to water these ones!
- They have a lovely texture and color. Mixing all different varieties are lovely.
- They are relaxed.
When I think of coastal living everything is easy and relaxed. Today I’m sharing a DIY Giant Shell with Succulents. You may remember it sitting pretty on the coffee table out there:
So pretty, huh? Perfectly coastal regardless of season too.
How to Make a Giant Shell and Succulent Planter
- Materials
Assorted Succulents – all of mine came from Home Depot - Giant Shell (this was a gift from my mom & I think she got it from Wisteria, but there are a bunch of online retailers) or you can make your own.
- Soil
- Smaller Shells or rocks
Method
- Pick out a variety of succulents. You want different heights, textures, colors and shapes. Place them loosely in the planter just to get an idea of placement.
- Add soil to your planter.
- Fill in succulents. Push them into place.
- Add more soil around.
- Place shells on top.
- Spritz with water and enjoy!
That’s it! So easy, right? These succulents have added so much happiness to my little she shed and look just as pretty as the day I planted them. Very minimal effort on my part. Yay!
If you don’t have a she shed this DIY Giant Shell with Succulents also looks great in living rooms, dining rooms and large bathrooms.
This project was really a dream come true for me. Not only do I have a space out there that I love but I was able to create what I envisioned in my head, in my style.
