Simple Ideas to Celebrate Spring (Spring Home Tour)
Simple ideas to celebrate spring! Think flowers, lots of them. I’m so excited to share our spring home tour today.
Before I get too far into the this home tour, I wanted to share a piece of my heart with you all. Home has always been my favorite place, my retreat, my happy place. I’m such a homebody – I’d rather have a night of homemade pizza and movies than going out. I signed up to be on this tour a few months ago, way before we knew the significance of the Corona Virus or how we would directly be affected by COVID-19.
I feel there is such power in the interconnectedness of the world right now. Each day it is clearer to me how much we all have in common – our hopes, our dreams, our passions and our love and concern for our friends, family, and the world. This is such a hard time for everyone across the world. This virus is affecting the whole world globally.
We are spending many hours in our homes with our kids. Here in Scituate schools have been cancelled and people have been told to stay home. Restaurants and bars are shut – takeout food only. We can still go to the supermarket and walk with the dogs and boys. We are practicing social distancing, which means we’re are just hanging out with our kids. This can be isolating and hard, but we’re trying to embrace this time with them. We’re always saying how much we want more quality time together. The kids are eager for home schooling lessons and I’m trying my best, but as you can imagine I’m more interested in cooking, baking, playing, and creating with them.
I also wanted to take this time to tell me I’m thinking of all of you reading at home. I’d like to thank all the doctors, nurses and first responders who are working so hard to help us get through this.
Here’s a look at our home for spring. I’m hoping these images can inspire you in this hard time. A huge thank you to my friend Krista, over at The Happy Housie, for organizing the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Home Tour.
Let’s start in the sunroom.
Spring in the Sunroom
This is a three season room that gets wonderful light. It’s on the side of our home (with a view of the pool) and I love painting watercolors out here. I’ve been doing art out here with the kids. The other day I shared how to make these dip dyed napkins.
You may remember the wreath I created the other week – a simple moss and pussy willow one.
I created two different tablescapes when I shared the napkins. One coastal one:
And one with more of a spring influence. The fragrance of hyacinths always remind me of spring!
Spring in the Kitchen
Right next to the sunroom is our kitchen. We’re spending A LOT of time in here currently – baking and coming up with delicious dinners to enjoy together.
I haven’t really done much in this space, but add fresh flowers.
Pretty pink and yellow tulips sit on our tiny island.
They’re always a welcome sign of spring.
I made the Fresh Oysters Sign and you might also like this post on refreshing your kitchen without renovating. We added the brass hardware last summer.
Conor selected these flowers. I don’t usually love orange, but love how cheerful this bouquet is. We got all these flowers at WholeFoods.
Our kitchen is right next to our dining room, which happens to be the next stop on our this spring home tour.
Spring in the Dining Room
Once again, I’ve kept things very simple in this room. Just added lots of flowers and eucalyptus. I really love how long eucalyptus lasts for. It smells lovely and is very affordable.
I should have put some longer tapers in the vintage candle holders, but I was being lazy. We eat dinner here every night with our boys by candle light. I think it makes the every day more romantic. 😉
The Welsh Dresser is filled with ironstone, fresh and faux flowers and DIY birds nests. Can you spot the faux flowers?
It’s actually the bunch in the bottom right in the pitcher.
The rest are real. I love mixing real or faux so I always have some flowers…
Learn to make your own DIY birds nests. These are so fun especially now when most of us need to stay home.
I kept things simple on our chippy blue cabinet. Just some more eucalyptus.
The final stop on my spring home tour is the living room, which is open plan into this room via dark wood columns.
Spring in the living room
I shared our spring mantel last week. I bet you won’t be surprised that I also used eucalyptus in here 😉
Our sweet little rescue dog, Max, has it right. He loves to relax by the fire.
I plan on spending lots of time reading books I’ve been meaning to get to but have been too busy to read. I hope to finally finish The Goldfinch and start Where the Crawdads Sing and The Shell Collectors, a short story collection by Anthony Doerr.
Finally, this is where we love to snuggle up with our boys.

You can see more about sources here and more of our home here.
I know the next few weeks, and possibly even months, are going to be hard times, but I know we’ll get through them together. I’m currently trying to figure out a way of offering more for my readers. If you guys can think of anything you’d like from me – via the blog or Facebook live, Instagram Stories, or Youtube videos, please let me know. I’d really love to help you all get through this time and I always feel better when I’m doing something creative.

beautiful tour, danielle! i love all of your simple natural touches- the table with the bottles of branches is so pretty! and i loooove your sun porch!
Beautiful!
Is the table in the sun porch old?
If not, where can I obtain one like it?
Thanks!
You have a lovely warm home, love all your flowers and thoughtfulness. It’s wonderful just hearing about your interaction with your family, pets, and neighborhood.
Love your message and all the pretty spring touches. I, too, am somewhat of a homebody. I think more than ever our homes need to be our sanctuaries. Little details make all the difference 🙂
Beautiful, Danielle! I love the mix of white and wood. Gorgeous pictures, and I love your message:) Take care, friend!
I enjoyed your home tour! The wood mantle and columns are beautiful. Fresh flowers always look so wonderful.
