Simple Touches of Spring on the Mantel
Pretty books, cut flowers – simple touches of spring on the mantel.
I’m just gonna pretend Monday never happened. It’s hump day and we’re almost to the weekend. Phew! Here in New England we got LOTS of snow on Monday. About 10″ and now we have frigid cold temperatures.
So. I’m pretending Monday didn’t happen.
I’m pretending it’s spring on the inside.
The fire is roaring because of the chilly temps outside.
I kept the decor on our dark wood mantel very, very simple.
I decorated with antique books that are luscious color. I love the gold embossing, too.
Drippy candles.
The moss heart I made for Luke for Valentine’s Day.
Our fireplace is actually faced in fossilized ocean flooring. You can read more about it here.
The little fern was from the super market. Just thought it was sweet.
Here’s a glimpse from the corner:
Oh, and one more. You don’t often see this vantage point on the blog:
See that little built in up there?!? It’s original to the house and I think they must have stored kindling and firewood in there. Isn’t it pretty? The white cabinet isn’t usually here but I’m playing musical chairs with furniture in the house. The piece that was here is gonna get a makeover very soon. Can’t wait to share it when it’s done 🙂
Well, there you have it our simple mantel with nature and sunny pops of yellow.
Come on, Spring!

Thank you, Marlene. Wishing for spring!!! x
What a pretty mantel. I am in love with the moss heart project you made for Valentine’s Day and I love that it can be used year round. Those are the best types of projects!
Pinned for others to see!
Thank you, Tauni! I’m so glad you like the heart project. It’s the gift that keeps giving 😉
The driftwood with the moss heart is absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing it!
Thank you, Sue xx
That little moss heart is so cute and I love the little peek of the bookcase with all the blue books.
Thank you, Lucy. I bought those books because I LOVED the color and I’m so happy with the sweet little heart. I didn’t realize I’d still have it on the mantel in March, but it works. xx
I love the little moss heart and the blue books.
I’m ALL for pretending right now, haha!! I’m of the “if we decorate, it will come” belief!! Love your mantel Danielle, and the moss heart is SO cute!!
