So Close to Amazing…

So Close To Amazing - a wonderful book by KariAnne Wood

There have been sooooooo many times I’ve been so close to amazing.

Here are a few:

  • When I was little I wanted to be Michael Jackson for Halloween. It was the early 80s and I thought I’d grow up to marry him one day. I had the Thriller album and I wanted to dress up as him for Halloween. I told all my friends that I was gonna have the red “Beat It” jacket (you know the one? The one with all the zipper). My mom made my costume. It didn’t really resemble the Beat It jacket. It was an old blue blazer with sequins hand sewn on.
  • At prom, my senior year, I had the most unbelieveable dress and chandelier earrings. The dress was a pale lilac / perwinkle color. It was a column dress with cream chiffon along the top. I had shoes dyed to match the dress. Then it rained and my pretty lilac / periwinkle shoes looked like they’d been tied-dyed.
  • The first time I tried to paint a ceiling. It was when we lived in our old house. The raised ranch. We were gonna paint the bright red kitchen but decided that we needed to do the ceiling first. I thought, “I’ll just paint the ceiling when Luke is out with John.” At the time John was probably 2 years old and he was taking him to a “Dad and Me” I think it was to a local farm. Well, little did I realize painting ceilings is hard, especially when you’re short like me. I made such a mess. I called my dad in tears. He came over and fixed it for me. I still don’t paint ceilings. Luke does the ceilings in our house.
  • My first watercolor class. I showed up with the wrong paper, cheap paints and brushes. The bristles kept falling out into my paints and my painting. I wanted to cry and pack up my paints and go home.
  • Pumpkin crème brûlée . They didn’t set after following all the directions. I’m still working on these as I want to share them on the blog?

So why am I telling you all these moments?

My friend, Karianne Wood, over at Thistlewood Farms has written the most amazing book.

The book is AMAZING but it’s called So Close to Amazing!

Couldn't put this book down!

Do you guys know, KariAnne?

I’m just so pleased for her. It was her dream to write this book and it’s amazing.

If you don’t know her already, KariAnne is a wonderful story teller and she’s so funny. I mean she has tears rolling down your cheeks you’re laughing so hard. She has this genuine gift of sharing so much about herself that you find truth in your own life.

I couldn’t put her book down.

Chippy table and a beautiful sunflower

I felt as if I was sipping coffee with my friend and I could hear her voice as I read.

She shares so many wonderful stories: her amazing fashion moments at church, this wonderful chippy table that the neighbors couldn’t truly appreciate, the journey to their current home.

I just know you guys are gonna love this book.

It’s the kind of book that makes your heart warm.

Eucalyptus & chipping paint

The kind of book that makes you smile ear to ear (and often laugh out loud).

It’s the type that you want to brew another pot of coffee just so you have an excuse to keep reading.

Oh, and a bonus for readers who LOVE DIYs. There are a bunch in this book.

Inside So Close to Amazing - KariAnne Wood's new book

I LOVE this chalkboard calendar KariAnne created, you can see it here on her blog too.

I think it’s those imperfect moments that makes our life truly perfect.

Those So Close To Amazing Moments.

I hope you’ll check our this beautiful book. It’s currently on sale at Amazon and I think it would make a wonderful Christmas gift for family and friends.

Happy Friday, friends!

Beautiful flowers

I agree!…I read her book while riding out Irma…it was a bright spot in an otherwise dreary, soggy day.
