I didn’t grow up with a brother, so didn’t know what to expect when I found out nearly 4 years ago that I would be the mom to not one, but two boys. I didn’t grow up with a sibling to play with, or tell my secrets to, and I find such joy in watching my sons grow up together.
Sure, they love superheroes. Superman is the favorite in our house. John dressed up like him one year for Halloween:
Superman, age 3, aka John
He looked like the man of steel right down to the curl in the middle of his forehead, but he is one big softie when it comes to his little brother.
Since Conor’s birth he has been his teacher, his protector and always makes Conor laugh when he’s upset. Conor has taught John to be more giving and thoughtful. They love having slumber parties in eachother’s rooms, racing on bikes in the front yard, hiding out in their clubhouse and searching for all kinds of treasures at the beach.
I love hearing John read to Conor early in the morning or them talking about Indiana Jones or their constant debate over Star Wars “baddies”. Conor is always eagerly waiting for his brother’s arrival home from school so they can play.
I love that they are best friends. I love just how much they love the one another. Nothing could have prepared me for such a wonderful bond that they share.
I think my boys would agree that “Being a brother is even better than being a super hero”.
So cute! I love that sign too! I may have to make one for my grandson’s room. He’s his little sister’s brother and super hero! Such sweeties your kids are! Extra cuteness! Hugs, Leena
Awe…what beautiful boys you have! I love the superman oufit and the curl is adorable! Our oldest STILL loves superman stuff! And he’s over 30! Lol I also have seen this touching sign before and love it and all it stands for! Thanks for sharing such a warm post on brothers and their love for one another. So sweet! Hugs!
