Summer Home Tour
Well, summer has arrived in our coastal town of Scituate, MA. I can’t tell you how excited I am about that. Our little fishing town seems to come alive in the summer months with friends and family visiting the harbor.
Our home (for those who don’t already know) is just a stones throw from Scituate Harbor and the beaches.
Life here on the coast is easy and relaxed.
Weathered shingles that have withstood the cold winter months and blizzards, now glisten in the summer sunshine.
Boats sail along the tranquil waters while gulls swoop to catch fish.
I love smelling the fragrant salt air as it travels up the hill to our house from the harbor. I feel so blessed to live this close to the sea and to call this house our home.
This summer is so special for us as a family. In September, Conor (our youngest) will be going to Kindergarten. So these summer days together are going to be so very special.
Here are some of the things we’re looking forward to this summer:
Watching the blue hydrangeas bloom.
Ice creams in waffle cones from Nona’s Homemade.
Sipping lemonade on the deck.
John can’t wait to have a lemonade stand with his good friend and give Minecraft tips (he’s obsessed).
Collecting shells.
Searching for sea glass & driftwood.
Making driftwood boats.
Sleeping in (well, maybe).
Going to the beach. Every. day.
Reading magazines and LOTS of books.
Slip sliding away!
Crafting with the kids.
Taking some day trips to the harbor islands, the zoo, Boston…
Do nothing days to swing on the hammock.
Getting lost in the woods.
Pizza on the beach.
Picnics everywhere.
Sailing on the Lucky Finn in Scituate Harbor.
A trip to meet my blogging buddies in Atlanta at the Haven Conference.
I can’t wait to finish the sunroom (we are so close to being done) and this room is going to be a perfect summer retreat.
But the main thing is I’m looking forward to spending long summer days with the boys I love.
What are you looking forward to this summer?
Danielle, I am loving the beach and summer feel to your home! It is beautiful! I am looking forward to my trip to Haven this summer, this will be my first! See you soon!
your home is gorgeous inside and out, but that exterior especially kills me! but maybe that’s because i am a new england girl once and always….
Love your home, Danielle! What an idyllic place to live. Is that seashells I see atop the window in your bedroom? What a clever idea!!
Oh Danielle, I just love everything about your home inside and out – so classic New England! And how wonderful to actually live in a coastal town with beaches nearby. I would love a little virtual tour!
Sounds super fun! We are headed to our lake cabin in Maine in two weeks, and I can’t wait! This will be our 12th summer there. My daughters are teens now, but they still look forward to boating, kayaking, swimming, our neighbors who are more like family, and a much more relaxed pace of life.
What a stunning home! What a peaceful place, sounds like an amazing summer lying ahead of you : )
Your home is beautiful. It is similar to my sister’s house in Amagansett, NY. We spend many weeks of our summer’s there. I just love the shingles. Lucky you!
Thank you for the tour, your home is just wonderful! Love it! I miss the ocean, the sounds and the smell. We lived in Hawaii for 8-1/2 years and miss that so very much! You are Very Blessed! Have a Wonderful and safe summer!
What a gorgeous post, it must be singing there t his time of year. Nothing like smelling the salt air. Your boys are beautiful and enjoy every moment with them for sure!!!

Oh wow, do I envy you your incredible home, so wonderful. I’m a born Midwesterner and have lived in west most of my life but I’ve always loved the homes in New England. I got to go with hubs one time when he had to do up into New England, lower Canada. I loved seeing the homes all thru all the towns.I’ve seen so many movies, tv shows, read books centered in New England, I’ve really fallen in love with way of life, definitely different. How wonderful you’re so close to ocean and beaches. Your home is so peaceful, inside… Read more »
I live smack dab in the middle of the country, nowhere near a beach or shore. Lucky you…what a happy-looking space you have created! And the boys are just darling 🙂
The front door with the beautiful star fish and shell wreath is just a perfect welcome to your wonderful home. It sounds like you have great summer plans! So very welcome after the long winter and the not-so-springy Spring. So happy to see you and Luke and the boys this past weekend at the book signing. Hope to catch up again soon and enjoy your trip to Haven. I

Danielle your home looks so beautiful! Your making me wish we still had our place in Humarock!
Thanks so much for inviting us inside your home! I love all the coastal touches. Especially the succulents in the shells and the FABulous shell mirror. And it’s always fun seeing your family enjoying your home! That’s what it’s all about right?
So much fun participating in the Summer Home Tour Blog Hop with you!
