Summer Meanderings & Sun Kissed Wishes

Remember back in April and May how I was wishing for summer?

I was hoping for HOT days in the summer sun.  Dancing in the surf with the boys.

Well, summer has well and truly arrived.

We’ve had hurricane Arthur last week which brought loads of rain that my flowers loved.

The summer has also brought HEAT.  Humidity that makes me want to do nothing all day except eat popsicles and go to the cool basement to paint some sample boards.  I still need to tidy that basement up to give you a little tour around my studio; but don’t get your hopes too high, it is still a basement with a cement floor.  One day I’ll have a real studio.

I’ve actually been thinking a lot about that this week.  How to follow this path of painting and creating.  Conor starts school in September and I’m wondering what will be next for me and Finding Silver Pennies.

What new adventure?!?  What new piece of furniture?!?  What to tackle next in the house?!?  What new tale to tell?!?

There is a big milestone for the blog coming up in August too and I can’t wait to share a fun announcement and gift for you, but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.  Let’s enjoy July.

I’ve also been taking time to enjoy each moment.

Time to smell the flowers

I love these pretty white twisting vines.  We have lots of shade in the front but I learned you can plant sun loving flowers in the shade as long as the flowers are small.  Isn’t that neat?  So far these ones are doing great!

This month I’m taking time to relax with the kids, to spray them with the hose and to also break up arguments (you know how it can be in the heat).

We’re taking life slow this month.  This spring was just sooooo busy with BHG, Poppy’s ordeal with the skunk, the Duxbury Show, the Open Studio and finishing up our sunroom.

It is nice to have some time to not be in a rush.  To not have to get a million things on the “to do list” done.  It is nice to sleep until 7 (that is sleeping in for me) and not have to rush for the school run.

I hope you all are enjoying July so far!  I hope you’ve had some time to reflect and to take things easy.

Tomorrow I leave for the Haven Conference in Atlanta! I’m so very excited to meet up with some old friends and make some new ones.  I can’t wait to learn new DIY techniques and learn about new products to share with you.

I won’t have my computer with me this year, but will be busy sharing photos on Instagram.  So be sure to follow me here!  I’ll also share a recap when I get back.  The link party will happen on Sunday as usual!

Things have slowed down here as well. Summer and kids have a way of doing that. Have a great time at Haven. Maybe next year I’ll be able to make it out that way.

I am so envious of you bloggers attending Haven. Sounds like some work but lots of fun also, meeting bloggers, learning new ideas. Think if I could attend would be starting up a blog when I got home. Have a great time for yourself.
Happy summer days
