Lots of things were fashionable in the 80s (some good and some bad): Madonna, crimped hair, gummy bracelets, stirrup pants, pegged jeans, Flash Dance, Thriller and anything neon. Being a child of the 80s, I love most things from it (except stirrup pants – never a good look for anyone). During the 80s, there was also a surplus of these white and gold bedroom sets:

I just knew that my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint could work magic on these pieces and modernize them for today. Key West meets coastal New England with this combination of grey and teal. I decided to use Paris Grey on the body (a really lovely color) and Provence (a blue / green) on the top and the details. Here is the after:

The gold had to go:
So I simply painted it with two coats of chalk paint, waxed it with clear wax and aged it a bit with dark wax. I toned down the edges and the trimming with dark wax, too.
