There’s An Elf on our Shelf…

And on our tree…

Benny Snowflake

And hanging from John’s nautical flags.

It is our first year with Benny Snowflake and the kids are so enjoying finding him each morning.  Conor and John wake up bright and early calling “Benny! Benny!” Until they’ve found him.  He certainly isn’t scared of heights:
hanging from our attic
On the first day Conor ‘touched’ him and John spent the rest of the day sulking, thinking Benny had lost his magical power and wouldn’t be able to fly to Santa.
Benny loves to play with the kids’ toys.  Here he is in the bathroom with bath toys:
Unfortunately, he stayed there two days because Luke and I both forgot and went to bed.  I remembered around 6am wedged between two cuddly little boys.  Part of me hoped that Benny would relocate through Christmas magic and part of me thought of springing out of bed and finding a new place for him.  Just as the perfect place was coming to mind, John woke up and off he went looking for our little sprite friend.  Well, to our surprise Benny was still in the little toy boat…We told the boys he must have liked it there so very much.
Being from the North Pole, he has a penchant for SNOW, in any variety.  So far he’s sat on a sparkly, ‘snow’ covered wreath:
Made snowmen out of marshmallows:

And who can resist snow angels?!?
The other morning we found Benny perched on my computer telling the kids there was a message from Santa via the North Pole Console.  They loved watching their messages.  I’m impressed at Benny’s computer skills!
I wonder where he’ll be next!  Please leave a comment if your elf has found any good spots to hide!

yeah! I love it! Ours is named Buddy. He has mostly been in high places too since I am afraid Jack will touch him, although each day he says “don’t touch him or he’ll lose his magic!” He was in Jack’s pottery barn chair and Jack knocked into the chair and Buddy fell on the floor. Technically he did not touch him, but the look on his face when he fell was true panic! This is our 3rd year but the first one where Jack really gets it. He liked looking for him before, but this is the first time… Read more »
