A look back at the tops posts from 2023!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and Happy New Year’s Eve! We took the last week off and spent some much needed family time together. Luke’s brother visited America for the first time and it was lovely to share all of our favorites.
Last year brought a huge amount of success to our online shop and wholesale as well as developing patterns for my Spoonflower shop. I painted A LOT. In 2023 I launched four collections as well as a bunch of new lines. We met so many lovely readers at shows and have developed wonderful relationships with beautiful independent shops. I felt so supported by my family and all of you. So a HUGE thank you. I couldn’t do this or write this blog without your support.
If I’m honest part of me all of last year felt behind. Behind in building a portfolio, behind in creating, behind in my skill level as an artist. By the middle of December I was feeling burnt out – extremely tired, but also creatively exhausted. Over our Christmas break I didn’t pick up a paint brush, my camera, or a pencil. I slept in, ate delicious home cooked meals, and went for long walks.
I feel like creativity ebbs and flows and now that I’ve had a break I’m ready to start exploring what will come next, but this year I want to savor the creativity and really, really enjoy it. I don’t want to feel behind. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be caring for my mom who is having knee replacement surgery, staying with her will give me a new perspective in which to create and time for special moments as she recovers.
Let’s take a look back at all your favorites from 2023!

Top 10 Posts from 2023
1. New Kitchen Stools and Wall Art
We started last year with some meaningful art in our kitchen and lovely stools. Form met function in this post and I still love both the new art and comfy stools going into 2024. The art has real special meaning which I share more about in the post.
2. Collecting Cornishware
For as long as I can remember I’ve loved the look of Cornishware. The pretty and classic blue and white pottery from England. I’m so happy I started my own collection last year. These classic stripes make me happy all year long and I swear my coffee tastes better in these mugs.
3. Fresh Start for An Old Coastal Home
The exterior of our home got a freshened up look with a fresh coat of paint on the trim and doors plus a reglazing of the windows.
4. Pet Friendly Rugs
This post should really be called “Pet and Kid Friendly Rugs” but I thought that sounded like a mouthful. My family is pretty hard on things so if they work in our home then they definitely will work in yours. This is a round up of some of our favorite floor coverings.
5. Summer Favorites
This post is a love letter to summer – Ah, summer! How I love the slower days, the warmer temperatures, and moments soaking up the salt air. Design inspiration and ideas for that summer feeling. This post is even good to read in the winter…
6. 7 Outdoor Build Plans
7 Amazing Outdoor Build Plans for your home! Many of you know that my husband is quite handy. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite outdoor build plans he’s created.
7. DIY Coffee Table
I fully believe that building your own furniture and hand finishing it makes it even more special. We shared the beautiful Scandinavian table Luke built and I finished with Woca Oil. I am so grateful to have a large coffee table we can now gather around. This is where we hang out as a family and we have date nights in front of the TV.
8. 27 Favorite Christmas Ideas
I know you’re packing up the holiday decorations, but save this one for next year! I embraced slow decorating this year and I’m so happy I did!
9. Outdoor Rooms
My favorite spaces to create and dream in our outdoor spaces – outdoor rooms, secret gardens, and gathering spaces.
10. Block Printing
For a long time, I’ve been a fan of block printing for home decor and fashion. It instantly gives a classic look. I thought it would be fun to share how I made my own block print patterns and also round up some favorites in apparel, home decor, and fabric.
Well, that’s the top 10 for 2023. Did you have a favorite post? Some of my favorites that didn’t make the list were:
- Visiting North Cornwall
- Lions Mane Crab Cakes
- A Weekend in Martha’s Vineyard
- How to Paint a Winter Boot
Thank you so much for all you support last year and I’m looking forward to a whole new year with you!

What a beautiful year you had! I am so happy we got to “know” each other better in 2023. I just put your sweet desk calendar out on my kitchen island yesterday. Wishing you all the best for 2024!
Oh, Molly, it really really was a beautiful year. I feel exactly the same. We’ll need to meet up in person on 2024! I’m so glad you’re enjoying your calendar in your beautiful kitchen. I just put mine out on my desk. Wishing you a wonderful 2024 xx
