Top Ten Moments from 2015
I feel like I was just writing last year’s post. How can it be that a whole year has gone by so quickly? We’re all getting excited for Christmas and can hardly believe it is two days away. You can imagine just how excited my little boys are!
2015 was such an amazing year. I look back and have such fond memories. This year we really, really enjoyed our home. We hosted some gatherings, continued to make it our own, had an exciting family trip and tried to better ourselves all around.
In no particular order here are my highlights from 2015:
Top Ten Moments from 2015
- Matthew Mead’s Upcyled Style! Shortly into 2015, I got an email from Matthew, who is one of the loveliest people you’ll meet, saying he wanted to come and photograph our home for a new magazine. Um, yes, please! Spending time with him that cold January day (click here) and hanging out at Amy’s shop (click here), being in the magazine (click here) and becoming friends with all the people featured in his magazines has been such a blessing. This group of people are so special. You can see our last meeting here at Sandra Cavallo’s home.
- The Whole30 and Eating Paleo. Luke and I were determined to get healthier in 2015. I wanted to wear a bikini on our family trip which I did 😉 I NEED to get back into this healthy routine. This soup is the perfect winter warmer:
- I learned more about photography. I shared this post and I did get that Sigma lens. I’m still learning but really enjoying this creative medium.
- I got to tour the HGTV Dream Home in Martha’s Vineyard with GMC! This was a pinch me moment! The home was stunning and I got so many ideas for our own home.
- We took part in the Vintage Bazaar! Luke and I journeyed up to NH while my parents watched the boys. It was my first outdoor market and was fun to meet blog readers and so many lovely vendors. If only the weather had been better on the second day. This year I realized just how supportive my husband is. I also couldn’t have done this without my parents help too.
- Our Deck Refresh. I was IN LOVE with the teak deck furniture that we couldn’t afford, so Luke built us a gorgeous cedar table and benches. Here’s the deck refresh. Just looking at these photos makes me wish for summer.
- Spain! In July we spent two weeks with Luke’s family and it was AMAZING. We don’t get to see everyone very often so it was nice to have that time in the sunshine and catch up. I loved watching the boys play with their cousins too. To read more about our trip see part 1 and part 2.
- Creating a She Shed in our backyard. This was a dream come true project and I couldn’t have done it without my husband. This space is the perfect backyard oasis. We did a lot to this little shed: installed shiplap, created a gravel patio and built a streamlined coffee table. It is the perfect bonus room in a coastal style.
- Watercolor printables. I started taking watercolor lessons last year and only recently shared two of these on the blog. They have been quite popular. My leaf free printable: and my holly free printable:
- Our Faux Galvanized Console Table. I’ve been experimenting a lot this year with faux finishes. I’ve always dreamed of having a galvanized table in our home. Luke built the table and I created the stained and faux galvanized finish.
Thank you all for following along on our adventures this passed year. I don’t know what 2016 will bring but I am hoping lots of happy and healthy times ahead. I do have a few home projects that I want to do – updating the kitchen, finishing the office, figuring out the fireplace and perhaps taking the wall down in the the boys rooms. I’m also hoping to finish the ebook. Time hasn’t been on my side with that. So thank you for all the fun times and reading along.

You did have a great blogging year! Loved it all too!
Those are all great highlights! My husband and I also did the Whole 30 earlier this year (partially inspired by reading about your journey with it) and it was really good. We have also fallen off the wagon though, and I have also not been doing my usual long distance running (or for that matter any running at all). So many goals for 2016! Wishes for a fantastic new year 🙂
Danielle… I loved how you shared your memories from the year…. and what good ones they are too! You are always inspiring and gracious. Thanks for a great year and all the best for a blessed New Year!
