Traditional Fall Entry (2019)
This year our fall entry is very traditional with warm orange mums and pumpkins.
I used to always shun these warm fall colors in favor of more muted or neutral hues, but this year I’m finding myself drawn to them for some reason.
You can see our fall entry from last year here. You’ll notice I used the cornstalks. I just really love how they frame our entry. I LOVE when they’re still green. If you’re local I get my cornstalks at Lamberts in Marshfield. They’ll turn to straw color and dry in about a week but love that they’re still green right now.
The storm door is new. We had it installed last winter by Hingham Lumber. It’s a storm door but has a screen that can pull down from the top. This is perfect when you have dogs. We have a full glass door but the dogs can’t ruin the screen when it’s in.
Speaking of dogs, Poppy and Max want to welcome you to our home!
Doesn’t Poppy look so pretty? She’ll sit here and pose all day.
Max, on the other hand, needs treats to perform. Ha! Ha! Luke’s giving them cookies…
Honestly, Max is too unpredictable in the front yard. He gets over excited and I’m so worried he’s going to run out in the street or after another dog.
Our ferns are from the summer and are still going strong! Fingers crossed.
The mums were $5.99 a piece and the heirloom pumpkins were $6 each all from Trader Joe’s.
The galvanized tin is vintage and from Bent Nail Farm Antiques.
Another new addition this year are the crushed shells in the front bed. You may remember we used them by our pool. I decided to add them to our beds in front, too.
We live right in Scituate Harbor so it seems perfect to have shells in our front yard. I actually can’t give you a wider shot because we have a pile of shells that still needs to go in the backyard.
What do you think of the shells? I think they make the red cedar shingles really pop!
I love when our window boxes get overgrown like this. I love when the potato vines and vinca flow to the ground.
This is the first year I used moonflowers. I didn’t realize when I bought them that they’re related to morning glories and are called moonflowers because they bloom at night.
For fall I added ornamental kale.
I love the mix of greens and deep purples.
Oh, our shutter color is Buxton Blue by Benjamin Moore. I always get asked so thought I’d share the source again. 😉
Well, that’s our fall entry. Pretty simple and sweet.
Let me know if you have any specific questions about sources. How are you guys decorating this fall? Would love to hear!
Oh, one last photo. I just have to share. One thing about fall that I simply love is that golden morning light. I think this picture captures it perfectly. Our front entry, on a Saturday morning, as the sun is coming up:
Your fall front yard has great curbside appeal! Good job!
Thank you, Kristie. I’m so glad you like how our front yard looks for fall 😉
Love your fall colors this year – goes great with your house- and the crushed shells in your planting beds are wonderful !
Thank you, Ann! LOVE the shells, too. Next up Halloween decor. I guess we better get on with that soon. xx
As usual, it looks wonderful.
I’m so glad you like our traditional fall entry, Judy xx
