Tried and True: My Favorite IKEA Products

Over the years, I’ve shared many, many IKEA products we love in our home. We just were there the other night picking up sheets and napkins. There’s certain things I always grab when I’m there, but I thought today I’d share my top 3 favorite IKEA products. We have had all of these products from many, many years.

Shopping at Ikea

Our closest IKEA is IKEA Stoughton and it’s approximately 45 minutes from our home. When our kids were little we used to all go and they enjoyed Smäland. Now, we usually go just the two of us. A little IKEA Date afternoon if you will.

We always start by stopping in the cafe first. Luke always gets the Swedish Meatballs.

I usually have the baked cod or salmon filet. We love the Lingonberry drink too.

After lunch we’ll leasurely walk the showroom upstairs. I love how they have different rooms in different styles set up. We love sitting on all the chairs and couches. I think what I like most is that it is a tidy space (unlike my home currently, ha! ha!).

Walking through the showroom always sparks ideas for our own home. It’s also nice to see different patterns and textures.

The kitchen spaces have fun organizing options and hidden fridges.

Over the years we’ve interspered many IKEA items with antiques and vintage in our home. In fact, our dining chairs came from there back in 2017. They no longer make them though which makes me sad. I’ve had my eye on these and they’re really comfortable. What do you think? Do you think these would work in our dining room with the farmhouse table Luke built?

Why We Love Shopping at IKEA

  • Well built and stylish options
  • Easy transport due to the fact that most everything is flat packed
  • Sustainability – IKEA is always looking to be more sustainable and eco friendly
  • Affordability

My Favorite IKEA Products

Okay I’m limiting this to only three things because I could go on and on. These are the items we’d had the longest. Click on the title to be taken to the IKEA product page.

Hemnes Daybed in White

What we love about this daybed

  • It’s so versatile. We used it as Conor’s first bed and then we used it in the playroom as a couch which could then be used as a guest bed (when pulled out it becomes a king bed).
  • Extra storage – the drawers underneath make it versatile. I store extra bedding and towels in the drawers.
  • Super comfortable. We’ve used two twin mattresses piled on top of each other for the daybed. Our dog, Poppy, loves laying on it now.
  • Love the cottage style of it.

Any cons?

  • Really the only con is that it’s hard to move. You have to take the whole thing apart to move it from room to room.

Price – $399.00

How we’ve used the daybed in our home:

We first got this daybed to be Conor’s very first bed. It was perfect for his little room in our first home. These were taken September 4th 2011. So excuse the photo quality. We gave him his new big boy bed for his birthday.

Since moving this bed has been in several rooms in our current home: the playroom, my old office, and our current office. This also now doubles as our guest bed. We pull it out into king for guests.

This is how it looked in the boys’ playroom:

Here it is in our shared office.

It’s now back in the playroom and Poppy still enjoys resting on it.

Poäng Chair

We have the one in light birch and tan.

What we love about this chair

  • It’s the most comfortable chair we’ve ever sat on!
  • I love the lines and the colors (but they have many varieties and some in leather, they also have a matching ottoman)
  • It works in any space

Cons

Hmmmm. I can’t think of any.

Price – $129.00

How we’ve used this chair in our home:

We have always love this chair. When we were students we lived in a furnished apartment and they had these chairs. We knew we needed one when we had our own home. So in our first home we had some in the playroom. Then we just added one to our sunroom and it’s the perfect reading and writing chair.

It’s a great chair and the seat cover is washable.

Linen curtains from IKEA

We’re actually big fans of Ikea curtains. We have linen curtains in our dining room and living room which we’ve had for 11 years. They wash beautifully.

What we love about these curtains?

  • How the sheer texture looks like linen and lets light in.
  • They wash beautifully.
  • Great price!

Cons

No, cons here.

Price – $24.99 for the pair

How we used these curtains in our home:

We used these curtains in our bedroom and have had them for four years. I LOVE them!
